get in your old clothes preferably torn ones visit the market one day and check with every dealer for engine a good engine will be kept in complete package with gearbox attached
rest gearbox will be removed get rates from different dealers and get from the one who gives atleast 30days warranty

I have a contact in the Shafiq mor market just called him. He says he will give a 30 guarantee for the head and the block but take 25k in exchange of the old assembly.

What do you guys say. The guy is reliable I have bought plenty of thing for my lancer from him. Not engine assemblies but carburetor, brake calipers, etc etc... Never had to return anything and still running...

are you planning to drop the engine as is.

meaning buy from scrappie, attach manifolds and wiring and slap it in?

buy from scrappie, tear it down and refresh it then slap it in?

Na I am planning to change the bearings and all relevant stuff in to the new assembly. Before I put it in the car.

Make sure, its not physically damaged first from anywhere - then make sure the cylinders are not rusted, and before starting assembly of it, take it to a machine shop for honing the cylinders lightly so the glass mirror glaze is wiped out, That way the new rings you are going to use will seat in proper.

Clean, Clean, Clean the engine after machine shop.

Jazakallah for the guidance sir. I just hope I make it good enough effort. If I am not not wrong "cross honing" is the thing you are asking me to do.

I have asked my own mechanic to supervise and inspect when he is free from his day job. He also said to wash and wash everything with multiple times.

Also ask him before opening that will he still give warranty if opened... Or get head and block individually..

Still i don't understand is how older cars like the Toyota or lancers from the 80s survive with water and this much modern engine didn't.

Few days back bought a QG assembly for myself. For rebuilding one more QG. When i opened it, it was effed up. But i have different terms with scrappies.. He without hesitation told me to see which block you like and get that. And somehow i got a very clean one...

So always ask them, we will open it and see if its rusted or rings are bad or crank is already grinded then clearly say I'll return.

Waise I kindoff know him, he will not sell me the thing before checking it first. Have bought a lot of stuff from him. But I will keep this in mind for sure.

Have bought the Engine with lots of extra stuff with it. Included in the price. The engine seemed different took my mechanic with me to check. I hope it works. Next step is changing all the basics...

Also: there was very little coolant left in it. And thankfully no rust issues. .

Good now ask your mechanic to replace all seals. Pour fresh Honda Genuine 10W30 engine oil and Honda Coolant. Also try to replace radiator, once long time investment.

Yes the radiator is on the list will be bought new in a couple of days. I am in the mood of installing not just the new seals but, giving it a small overhaul.

Better to put new radiator with this engine. Also check the thermostat valve, best is replace it with Honda Genuine item.
