I think 8th gen takes lead in all aspects.

7th gen is fuel guzzler.
Regarding maintenance, R18 was introduced in 2006 and even in 2018 it is still offered. I hope that explains how good it is

I have a 7th gen manual vti 2006 petrol driven. It has clocked 156000 kms on odo and kept on factory specifications. In a city like Karachi, where the traffic is mostly a mess, the car gives me around 12-13 kmpl with ac. Please note that i am using caltex havoline 0w20 fully synthetic.

On the other hand my tenants have a 2012 manual 8th gen vti hardtop. It has clocked 50000 kms and is honda maintained throughout. They dont get anything above 9 kmpl.

7th gen is fuel guzzler strange. bhai 8th gen doesnt give more than 9/10kmpl in city and 7th gen gives 12kmpl in city easily. 8th gen is very famous as fuel guzzler

Perhaps it depends on condition of car but R18 is certainly fuel efficient than D16W9

I have honda civic exi 2006 prosmectic. I have done following things to improve its overall fuel efficiency as under;
1) Complete tune-up of engine with new spark plugs and air filter and did tappets clearance adjustment.
2) Used fuel system/injector cleaner regularly after every 3000 KM mixed with petrol.
3) De-carbonized piston tops and intake/exhaust tappets by using STP multi purpose motor treatment through vacuum line of brake booster.
4) Did wheel alignment and high speed wheel balancing.
5) Use 5w/20 zic oil for less load on engine.
6) Did engine flush after every oil change by using 2 liter diesel after draining old oil. Put diesel, start engine on idle speed for 10 to 15 min. Drain diesel, replace oil filter and put new oil.
7) Changed oil transmission oil with honda oil.
8) Changed weak shock absorbers with new ones of thailand made. Rs 13000 for both rear and front.
9) Replace worn out and hard tires with new and standard size.
10) Remove all extra weight from car digi.
11) Keep tire pressure up to 30 psi.
12) Switch Off engine on traffic signals as much as possible.
13) Check front and rear suspensions and replace all worn out parts with excessive looseness and play.
14) Flush radiator with 300 gram tartri. Dissolve it first in hot water and then pour it into radiator. Start engine and let it run on idle speed for 15 minutes. Drain and flush radiator three to four times with clean water. Now add coolant Pyro red color, 2 bottles and rest with battery distill water.
15) Change power steering oil and clean bottle filter and then add good quality PS oil.
16) Avoid sudden acceleration. Accelerate car gently.
17) Clean all ignition electrical connections inside engine for full current.
18) Check free rotation of each wheel by lifting car. If found any wheel not moving freely then repair brakes or replace worn out bearings.

I had perfectly mantained and behaved Civic 2005 since day 1 but suddenly am having not so frequent problems with RPM / sensor since last year flooded rains in Karachi. I took car to Honda Site but they said now they support only 2007+ models. Can you guys plz suggest any good e-tools equipped Mechanic in Karachi? Have taken to few mechanics but they were like tukka lagao musalmanoun. Problem didnt solve.

Get your engine fully tuned up from a good workshop. Change spark plugs after every 20000 KM in case you are using standard ones.Thoroughly clean the throttle body and adjust clearances of tappets as well. Use complete fuel system cleaner or fuel injector cleaner after every 3000 KM. If found fuel injectors badly clogged then remove them and clean in ultrasonic bath. De-carbonize piston tops and tappets by using carburetor cleaner directly sprayed into vacuum line for brake booster. Flush your engine with diesel. Drain old oil, fill 2 liter diesel, start engine and run on idle for 15 minutes. Drain diesel, replace oil filer and put new oil ZIC X7 or use any good brand with oil viscosity 5w/30. Keep tire pressure up to 32 psi or even better with 35 psi for optimum fuel economy. Do wheel alignment for less drag. Change worn out tires and use 185/65/15 or 195/65/15. Don't use extra large size tires as this produces drag on engine. Change weak shock absorbers as it produces resistance against free motion of car. Remove all extra material from car as extra weight puts load on engine and so more fuel is consumed. Swtich Off engine on signal lights as far as possible. Check suspension and replace all worn out rubber bushes. Check brakes by lifting car and turn wheels one by one by hand. If any wheel feel not rotating freely then repair brake of that particular wheel as this creates drag on engine and more fuel is consumed.

U high or something? Spraying carb spray on brake vacuum to clean piston tops and valves to permanently destroy valve seals? And checking O2 sensor on 7th gen which in Pakistan none has? 35PSI TYRE pressure on Civic? Dude u seriously need to slow down on ur suggestions...

well since its HONDA, there is no harm in experimenting.
