I paid a visit to irshad today but came back disappointed. He examined the case of fluctuating rpm and called for a tuning. His charges were 3500 on which he had promised a general tuneup covering throttle body service, injector service, tappet adjustment. He spent about a good 1 hour on the tuneup and then starting reassembling the parts. Upon starting the engine, the rpm immediately shot up to 2000. we waited for the car to reach the optimum temperature but still the rpm did not stabilize. Irshad then spent another 3 hours on the throttle body and tried adjusting the sensors attached to the IACV. His best adjustment got the car on 1200 rpm. The IACV felt a bit jammed up. I did insist on lubricating in with drops of atf as @Xulfiqar bhai had advised. He finally followed my advice but to no gain. After spending several hours he simply took out an old sensor from his junk pile and tried to adjust the rpm with JUGARR. He was able to bring the rpm down to 900 but couldn't fix up the instability issue. He finally identified the throttle body to be faulty but paid no interest in arranging for a replacement. he rather wrapped up the work real quick and shamelessly demanded Rs. 4000. Another 500 for the Jugarr wala sensor
In such a case, I was expecting that since my work was not done, he would demand a partial payment. but I found him to be just another regular ustaad type mechanic.
