Depends on the type of collant used. If its the guard red one trust me its way too strong for a normal radiator, it will make holes from every place which is rusty. Using zic or anyother mild one wont do harm to radiator as they r not much concentrated

He is Right. Let me tell you why.
Your cousin will continue to use plain water until the rust will corrode the water body, the engine block and the radiator to the point that he will someday call him that he is standing in the middle of a highway with steam coming out of the hood.

The mechanic will be happy to help. he will bring the car to his workshop and will handover the list of parts to your cousin that will most likely include a Waterbody, a Kabuli radiator and a Brand new head gasket and his Labour charges.

In this scenario the happiest person will be your cousin's mechanic.

What he should do to avoid this kind of scenario is:

Put a radiator flush and clean the system. Check for leaks and if found repair them. After the repairs fill in a coolant and Enjoy!

@hash737 I dont have any idea the meter was reversed or not but the previous owner was using cng too. Once I alone was driving it in winters on M2 and tried to floor it. Engine was like dying to cross 140 kmph and rpm was nearly 4.5k. Now you can assume condition of engine. If I travel to my hometown (160 km) from Lahore with ac, half a tank is gone. City mileage is also not impressive like 10kmpl. Removed its cylinder. From the day I bought it to till now I have changed its following things
Clutch plate and pressure plate new = 9k + 4k labour
Front shocks kabli = 8.5k along with mine
Radiator kabli = 8k
Condensor new = 4k
Steering rack kabli = 5k
Tie rods/ends = doesnt remember exact
Rear hubs kabli = 7k
Driver side window motor = 3k
The condition of body and paint is although good.

can you please tell me how do i test if shocks of my car are farigh? i know every mechanic will have its own opinion so looking for honest advice.

there is dug dug sound potholes but i think its coming from rack. How to confirm if my shocks/ shock mounts are gone? please shed some light for both front and rear

Another thing i dont understand is that why mechanics insist to replace rack when there is dug dug sound? can we simply not change the bushings and its good to go?

what if the block is corroded are those leaks in block even repairable since the block will visit lathe machine guy and stuff and usually there are aren't much experts available
the thing is i bought a vti 1,60,000 done spent around 100k on major parts replacements just to be on safe side yet faced an a/c compressor failure in ISL the mechanic drained recently poured Green Liqui Moly coolant saying that this particular type will cause issue in this old motor
After few days encountered a Heat-up on M2 on around 130-140km/h speed the mechanic at motorway drained the precious LM MOS2 10W40 and changed it to 20w50 since he found the mobile oil to be burnt and loose it moisture
yet no visible loss could be found in gasket
upon returning home after a few weeks bubbles appeared in radiator which showed gasket failure consulted my mech "je mamoli se bubbl hain chalatay raho aur coolant dal lo abhi engine khul gaya to lamba masla hoga"
since that day i am driving the car with no TSTAT , NO coolant and thick oil which is destroying my mileage

Zic vs Honda coolant? Recomendations?

How much is price?

Honda coolant is 700 rupees/litre and around 4 litres are needed. Its premixed.do not add water.

Zic is around 1400/4 litre. Its premixed as well. So not so expensive.

Caltex red coolant is also rupees 700/litre but its a concentrate. You need to add distiled water in 1:1 ratio so that turns out be 1400/4 litre. You will need two bottles only.

Its best to use Honda but its the most expensive of the three. Zic is also good but it doesnt last more than one season.

The dug dug sound (a heavy thud while crossing over cat eyes, speed breakers, etc) according to my experience with this civic is due to:

1) most commonly the shock mountings.
2) Shock itself
3) lower control arm bad bushes.

A bad shock will give a sound that is quite noticeable even while going over minor bumps (like while driving on a road with patchwork).

Whereas bad lower control arms or shock mountings make a heavy thud while going over potholes or big cateyes. And usually they do not produce a thud while driving over minor bumps.

This is what I have learnt from my experience although I do not know the exact way to find out. My observations could be wrong.

A bad steering rack will have play and car swaying sideways on high speed. Plus it usually gives a clunking rattling sound not a heavy thud.

They insist to replace the rack because repairs dont last long as workmanship is poor and clients turn up with complaints and according to them anything that is Kabuli is from the heavens.

Though I would not change the rack if there is no play, no swaying on speeds, no rattling sounds near the steering. And would look for other things first.

i changed lower arm bushings, yes the thud is not on minor bumps. So its probably shock mounts!

One mechanic said that thud is also due to steering rack, swaying and play is a different issue but there is no rattling sound only dug dug sound when going over big bumps like cat eyes. Lets assume if it is rack as he says, can we change mounting bushings for rack to fix it? what else can make such dug dug sound if its coming from rack

Regarding swaying problem, it can be fixed be installing new tie rod ends no? or adjusting them if possible

btw the shocks do make slight squeaking sound when you push the car to and fro. is it shocks itself or shock again mounts?

It is possible. But I would check for the shocks and its mountings first before touching the rack.

Its not really hard to open up the struts as compared to opening the steering rack and I am pretty much sure the thud is due to bad shocks.
Get them Opened up and check for mountings as well at that time and if bad change them as well they arnt very expensive.

Changing tie rod ends can solve swaying problems and rack mountings unusual noises from the rack but usually the problem is in the rack's teeth or the pinion.

There are bubbles in radiator although the gasket apparently looks good. Mechanics have a habit of "chalti hai to chalne do" its obvious the gasket has been cooked though not to the point that its mixing oil with water.

It will eventually fail.

my cars a vti oriel manual 2005 with 132k on odo, in top notch condition no work ever done, every thing is in pristine condition, bought it in december from a first owner, the only thing that is giving me pain is the back seat makes choon choon noise, i got really expensive poshish work done on doors and seats of chelsea padded covers of leather, but could not FIND the rear seats HOOK white covers from anywhere, whenever someone sits on the rear seat it makes choon choon sound because those rubber clips who come on top of metal hooks are missing and sound is made cuz of metal rubbing with metal.

any idea where to find those?

in the above link, thats the clip/hook cover i am looking for but on these website are for 1000 rupees that very expensive. also the poshish guy in f-10 has them but giving them for 500 each as according to him i can never find the anywhere and are expensive lol

at the moment the engine is on 10w40 Shell oil which gets replaced every 3000km (used to use Liqui Moly 10w40 but now cant afford it anymore) i always get new Leppon air and oil filter everytime engine oil is changed, brand new oem honda plugs, fresh manual gear oil, fresh break oil, fresh clutch oil, fresh coolant replaced by me (Honda OEM coolant) (all the above were done at home by me and i properly bled the system), new brake pads, brand new micheline stock size tyres with production date 4016.

i get 632 KM without AC in full tank (F TO E) this does not include reserve (complete Local Drive).

i get 560-600 with AC in full tank (F to E) inside City/local driving. (does not include reserve)

Here is when i completely dissassembled the front of the carr and cleaned the condesor with pressure washed and completely detailed its front face from underneath

in the last pic notice the right part which was cleaned from pressure washer and the left part which is still dirty.

You just removed the cylinder or cng kit with pipes and electricals also removed.

Aldo guys my car mirror is making noise when opened while driving it rattles. and also rattling inside door. How to fix?
