Mine is exi manual and I get 13-13.5 kmpl local in lahore with 50% of my commute through Canal Bank road which is signal free. I drive with a very very light foot though I do not drive slow.

On highway in a recent trip to naran from lahore It gave 16kmpl with 100%AC and 4 adults on board. I was using AC even on naran road except for places that were really steep.

These are some of the reasons I do not want to sell the car as it was bought brand new in dec 2005 and is with us since day 1.

Any idea about how to spot fakes as even fakes of japanese parts are in market

I guess the first thing to look for in order to spot a fake is the packaging.
Walk away if the shopkeeper says "sir je ye original hai humne apni packing me dala hai OR hamara maal loto me ata hai original packing ni ati."

Then inspect the shock. It should have the name of the company embossed in metal with serial number. Not some chingpong sticker on it.

Last. Buy from a reputable shop.

I spotted fake locally painted and repaired shocks packed in Honda boxes claiming made in thailand. When I inquired where is the company name embossed?
I got the funniest reply from the shopkeeper. "Sirje hamara maal loto me ata hai to scracthes par jatay hen hum yahan paint se touching krte hen" lolz

I wanted to take a picture of it but he was not comfortable with it.

i am looking to get front suspension completely redone. on big jumps the front shocks make SHRUNG sound.

how much will brand new shocks set will cost for front? also what other things should i get replaced with new and their price?

i am not into KABULI shocks as they are already used,

shoe i get new bushings? CV joint and all that replaced with new when i get front shocks replaced?

I guess front and rear both cost around 18-20k for shocks.

Salaam everyone!
So there has been a problem with my civic vti. My dad was driving the car on hyderabad Karachi highway when the radiator leaked and the car heated up and turned off on its own.
Managed to tow it back to Karachi. Got the engine packing etc and other repairs done. However, there was some girr girr sound coming from the engine. Was gonna show it to the mechanic on the weekend when the sound worsened. Car started losing power and finally came to a standstill
Now, the mechanic says the crank broke down. And needs an engine replacement
Now, would an engine replacement be a better option or should the existing engine be worked upon?
And if the engine is being replaced, what needs to be kept in mind? Would it be a simple bolt on swap? Or would there be any sort of alterations required?

The quoted costs for the replacement by the mechanic is 50k. Is that what it should be?
Ps, I live in a joint family so the car is pretty much in use most of the time.
Car had clocked 260000 kms and had been with us since the beginning.

if you want an engine swap, i can send you to a reliable engine dealer at Shafiq Mor. he surely will arrange best possible engine on my request. the mechanics who offer swap themselves are mostly looking to find worst possible engines in junk yards, fit into your car telling you that they have 'found a star from heavens' and ultimately you will lose more as engine will not worth it. engines come from many countries in all possible conditions. some are just untouched and as good as brand new and most of them are like total junks....

That's a good deal
Do check if it is maintained through Honda or local mechanics. Inspect tyres, suspension, power steering, engine history (oil used). Make sure car is not a daily kharcha

Yea the car has no check lights. Every thing working. Michelin XM2 tires installed by owner a year ago. Trunk had can of Shell blue bottle 5W30. Suspension is good but might need bushing.

How do you compare prosmatic with manual? I want to have prosmatic but some people tell that prosmatic if gets faulty can be real pita. Like no power uphills and car jerking etc? Manual returns a good fuel economy but for city driving comfort automatic is preferred.

Personally i would not go for an Automatic. but it depends on you. Manual has always slightly better pick and mileage. If transmission is in good shape and you don't feel anything bad while test driving, and also Transmission fluids have been changed timely then i think it is a good deal
Manual is not bad for city driving. Unless the traffic is too much and is jam packed always
