How can we clean our fuel tank?

Any body can suggest on how to clean a fuel tank? any specific fluid or any other process?

i dont think so any specific...go to the mechanic he wil remove the tank and clean it from outside...then take out the petrol, check the fuel pump etc ...then get it properly installed ....
i just did a month ago of city....

remove your fuel tank, empty any fuel inside and add about half litre of petrol back inside, then add ball bearings and shake your fuel tank and empty it to remove the debris and repeat

Would hate for one of the ball bearings to be left in the tank after assembling back!

I had mine cleaned out in my Baleno last year. I paid 300 to the mechanic for the labour of removing the tank and using a wire brush to clean up what he could from the open area. After it was removed and cleaned by the mechanic with kerosene ('Matti ka tail') i personally took it to a service station and paid Rs. 100 to get it pressure washed and aired out. I let it sit in the sun for about 2 hours and the mechanic installed it back. Total cost me less than Rs. 500.

Sadly i lost 1500 rupees worth of petrol because the person i bought the car from failed to inform me that the fuel pump is toast and the petrol existing in the car is all spoiled.

Well it depends. If you are constantly filling up your tank at the shadiest petrol station in town then you will require cleaning the tank often. There are threads in the archives discussion the preferred brands and locations to get petrol. As per my mechanics suggestion, I use Caltex. Also I put in 1000 rupees of Hi-Octane every other fill up to avoid knocking and for better performance.

yup my corolla 2007 in on petrol...but as u know every1 is dramay baaz..so i think i will choose for Hi-octane..
1 more question is there any sign of lower mileage if dirty petrol is in the tank?

Lower mileage will be the least of your worries if you have contaminated fuel. Dirty petrol in the tank can cause knocking, misfires, stalling, poor performance, negative effect on engine/drivetrain life and sensors (o2), etc.

Is this liquid called seafoam? Did the car create a whole lot of smoke from the tailpipe for a short period after the mechanic applied it?

^No that's nt it. It was a liquid which he poured into the fuel tank.

i used STP fuel system cleaner yesterday. just filled my fuel tank up to half and poured that thing in it. it cleans fuel injectors as well as carburetor. bought it for Rs. 230 from melody market.
