Bro... I didn't reply your question because I am not sure of the answer therefore I har to research first. Secondly, you have asked this thing to a guy who is a Masters in Telecommunication Engineering but has all his experience of pure Management and related Operations that are mostly irrelevant to the 17 years of my education.
Now if I look at my past, I switched drastically because there was little scope of telecom left. The industry was saturated completely. I consider electronics somewhat similar and have always found mechanical side more interesting and better in terms of return. If you'd ask me to I will definitely suggest mechanical over electrical! As far as scope in Dubai is concerned, if I look around myself I hardly see any electrical engineer that u know but yes there are many electrical engineers around working in the UAE. Try doing something related to petroleum in the future. It combined with mechanical experience of yours will open doors in the oil industry.
You have only spent 1 year with electrical. It's not too late and you can switch. Don't switch abruptly. Try switching in a way that you CV shows a smooth transition.
Last but not the least, as Capsat said, chose the field that you're interested in! If you get a job that matches your interest, that's the best case scenario whether it be electrical, mechanical or whatever!
