How to clean grease and oil from engine bay?

My car's engine bay is not so clean. Its not dust, but mostly oil and greasy stains. Is there any proper way to get rid of them. Some areas are too narrow to use some brush or metal sponge. What to do in such case?

Buy Astonish Engine Degreaser from Autohub.pk or Luxobizspa.

Spray it on the engine bay, let it settle down for a few good minutes, let it get ‘foamy’

Agitate the sprayed the area with a detailing brush (a toothbrush works too).

Then you can either wash the engine degreaser with water or just clean it with some old damp towel/cloth.

Thanks bro. Can you also recommend something like this for Engine flushing? I have to change engine oil as well and I want to flush the old oil completely from the engine.

you can check you tube videos for engine bay detailing.

usually liquid soap solution in spray bottle is used for engine cleaning. spray in every corner, edge, slot, orifice rubber tubes and leave for 10 -15 minutes. use duster cloth bottle + tooth brushes to clean hard grease spots. after detailing gently spray plain water few times to drip clean and use blower to dry.

make sure you do the job in dead cold engine.

I tried it already but it was not much efficient.

How old is your car? I am not a fan of engine flushing, I would rather just drain the oil completely and pour the new one, making sure it’s a genuine oil. There’s a say, some experienced mechanics believe that using engine flush very often can potentially do more harm than good, like ruining the head gasket, thus shortening the life the engine, etc.

Thoughts and opinions may vary from people to people. Although, I’m not into it.

I bought it recently and its engine was overhauled 2 years ago (before my purchase)... The new engine oil becomes dirty too soon. So, I am thinking of cleaning the engine and then pour the new oil.

Actually the bottom drain nut has become loose and I have to either get the housing repaired or install a new one because it is leaking oil a little bit. I have to remove it anyway and clean it before installation again. This will remove most of the dirt and stuff which has accumulated there. But, additionally I was thinking to clean the engine via engine flush.

You can use STP, Liqui Moly, etc. engine flush, however, I would suggest to exercise caution, especially if your car's engine is old.

Engine flush may result in worn out seals to leak.

Engine was overhauled and I got it checked a few months back because of some other confusion... Everything is 10/10... compression ratios, materials, health, gasket, etc.... Everything perfect!

The person I bought from was using 20W50 and oil changers also told me to stick with it as its an old car... But now I am thinking to switch to 10W40, which is factory recommended. Is it good to change to 10W40?

It is cleaning your engine like it should and I don't think it should be too concerning either. Removing it too early would just be a waste of money.

This is the method I use:
1) Disconnect the battery
2) Use throttle body cleaner as it works very good to remove tough grime.
3) Use an all purpose cleaner or engine degreaser (I used both) and a brush to agitate the dirt
4) Hose off everything (No pressure needed)
5) Dry excessive water using a cloth
6) Use a blower to dry remaining water (Hair dryer works too).
7) After everything's nice and dry, reconnect the battery and you're good to go!
