Howto set idle rpm on a efi car

howto set idle rpm on a Mitsubishi pajero mini. currently the idle is 800 rpm in park and 500 rpm in drive. want to set it to about 1100 rpm in park. i am concerned on how to disconnect the idle air controller valve and does the ecu need to be reset after the procedure?

You can adjust it by rotating the throttle stop screw. Then you will also have to adjust the cable tension. The best bet is not to mess with it.

Why do you need to increase the RPM?

wanted to increase it as the ac vent temperature is 2-4 F lower at higher rpm and also the viscous clutch operated fan seems to be turning a little slowly at 800rpm. i was suggested to have the rpm increased. a electrician previously did set idle rpm but afterwards some work was done on the engine and now it seems a bit low. he simply adjusted the throttle stop screw. i suspect he might have not done properly as car also seems to consume quite a lot of fuel on idle then it should.

what do you guys say, not mess with it? its not big issue i can live with it if messing with it could make the situation worse

otherwise idle is only veery slightly lumpy but not noticeable even in drive on a stop light though initial acceleration in low rpm seems very sluggish, thats normal?

you need to adjust the throttle stop screw on factory spec. again.its clearly mentioned in the repair manual also that never to mess with that screw

i tried but in vain, it was only sold in japan and no pdf version, one two that i did find were in japanese and were in hard copy to be purchased

today took the car for a long drive and up and down hills when manovering in a parking lot on full lock it would try to stall, on the way back at night it kept getting worse and would threaten to stall at signals and right outside my home it stalled and would not restart unless i floored the accelerator and would stall on releasing it.

What is the issue??
can low battery cause it, the battery has not been replaced in a long time and i recently installed amp and sub so driving back at night with healdights on may have weakened it too much. can it cause it to stall?

ill have to do something about it tomorrow so need views urgently, thinking of buying a new battery and adjusting the rpm and hoping for the best

by the way can a clogged fuel filter cause this, there is also a whooshing sound when i open the fuel cap can driving hard in extreme heat have vaporised the fuel lines. whoosh sound mean breather hose is blocked??

Yes. The breather is blocked.
If fuel filter is clogged, you will observe missing and jerks while driving.
500 rpm appears to be too low. Increase the RPM if required.

go to any good cng mechanic n get it done, wouldnt cost much

Most answers are incorrect or least not the way it should be done. Idle RPM experiences issues once throttle body is dirty or it’s been a time it was serviced. Yes, you can increase the idle RPM by adjusting the throttle position screw on throttle body but why would you want to mess with factory specs.

Simplest and Right way to accomplish the task is by removing Idle Air Control sensor, spraying the WD40 on a small wheel inside and then installing the idle Air Control sensor back on Throttle body and slightly adjusting its position till the time you don’t get the desired RPM and then tighten the screw of idle Air Control Sensor on Throttle body.

car only misses and stalls at low rpm at high rpm its perfectly smooth, so its a breather hose? where is the breather located?

this exact procedure was done two months ago and car was fine then, some work was done on the engine and the rpm was only slightly low, but recently the whole AC system was serviced and after that idle rpms really started to get low and the issue keeps getting worse more the car is driven

so increasing the rpm will solve this recent stalling issue? and what about breather hose problem is it related to this issue ? the car factory specs have already been messed up so i guess should not bother about that

oh my bad, then i guess any mechanic can set the idle rpm, its done via the scew wid race in engine bay area

can a bad PCV valve be the sole cause of this stalling issue? recently car also seems to have lost some power and runs hotter than normal
