No, itās not a scam as this has been tested and many papers have been written on this. There are few problems in this conversion and let me explain them to you. Few people who have installed hydrogen kit faces problems such as rather then increase in Mileage they experience a decrease in mileage. Now, this means whenever someone is installing a hydrogen kit he has to select the manufacturer very carefully. Why?? Hydrogen Aids in burning fossil fuel, this has been proved without a doubt. With corresponding action from ECU, its further leans the supply of Petrol and driver experience 15 % to 30 % increase in mileage. So always buy a kit which comes with programmed Microcontroller.
HOW DOES ON BOARD HYDROGEN GENERATOR WORKS
Now most will be confused as what this hydrogen kit looks like. It is not suppose to be a big equipment and ordinary engineer can also manufacture that at home. Its basically performs the electrolysis of water like battery produces electricity using electrolysis but this is pure distilled water or water. Now most of the hydrogen kits consume 10 A to 15 A of current from car battery so car battery along with generator should be strong enough to output this extra current which will be consumed by the hydrogen generator. Results achieved were that HCNG gave 10 to 15 % less mileage and 50 % better emissions as compared to CNG. for sake of better emissions, this was argued that HCNG should be preferred over CNG in United States. So, hydrogen with CNG may not give you better mileage but extra hydrogen added to system may increase the output.
ILLOGICAL CLAIM BY MANUFACTURER
Few manufacturer claims that installing hydrogen kit will improve the car mileage by 30 % to 70 %. Now, this is a wrong claim as already said that if a vehicle is 70 % efficient then this means that it does not burn 30 % of fuel. Basic principal behind hydrogen kit is that it aid in complete burning of fossil fuel. So, what left is 30 % so basically by burning this remaining 30 % you will only achieve 30 % more efficient economy so donāt get fooled by manufacturers as they do so to sell their equipment.
HYDROGEN KIT SOLELY
Hydrogen alone is sufficient to run the vehicle but problem is you need a very good onboard generator which will consume a lot of space. Everyone will be well aware of Myth Bursters. They performed the experiment where first tried to run the vehicle on hydrogen alone and they completely succeed then they tried hydrogen + fossil fuel and results were 30 % improve in Mileage and then correspondingly they tried other fuel saving devices which they on record said that it has failed to give improve mileage in-fact results were further bad.
