i had these experiences before but in recent rains something weird happened, i was overtaking a car and suddenly i realised that power wasnt sufficient so i switched to 4th gear at 80km/hr or so and gave a heavy kick to gas pedal ...my car had burnout for like a second or so and meter showed 97km/hr, car behaved really badly and trust me that is the feeling one would never like to have...thank god car didnt swirled or skidded side ways

Seems your car was for split seconds gliding over water. Good you controlled . Rather speeding up you should have reduced the speed.

When driving in the rain:

1. Turn your headlights ON when visibility is compromised.
2. Slow down when it rains or drizzles as these make roads slippery.
3. Don’t step on the brakes, make turns or accelerate suddenly.
4. Put a safe amount of space between you and the car ahead.
5. Make sure your windshield is clean and the washer and wipers are working.
6. To avoid skidding, slow down, keep steering in a straight direction, and don’t apply brakes suddenly.

i question fazal bhai keya ap ki car k odo meter mai mph / kph dono hain ya sirf mph. keya trip meter mai kph/mph switchable hai ?

well in the speedo meter you can see on dial Bigger are MPH while smaller are KPH.. US are in MPH so its required to be like this. In one of my car the trip meter cant be changed. It re,ains in miles while in my second car I can switch to Km's as seen below. I took pictures for you. Odo meter in US need to be in miles when ever it is reported at time of registration.

The trip meter on my this car dont change. Mph bigger on dial while Kph smaller. In canada same car has Bigger Kph and smaller Mph.

In my second car.. I have multiple options. I can chnage units. Trim computer switch to Km's. there is dual digital speed display as well which is "zero" in this picture.. this does not change to KM.. Again due to safety.. In canada same car will come with same options but the speed digital display will show KM and not MPH.

A very common sight these days are directional tires mounted in the opposite direction, and by this process our people actually induce hydroplaning instead of avoiding it. Many people and even the tire dealers are not aware of what is even meant by directional tread tires, so keep your eyes open and advise your family and friends about it. I have seen so may cars with this fault that I have lost count now, and this includes rides of some pakwheelers as well

very useful information just the day before i was coming back on the motorway and kept my speed at 120km/h now while trying to overtake a vehicle in heavy rain i switched to the right lane and it had water standing, the car swayed badly very very stupid of me will NOT happen again.My question here is that will traction control help you in such a situation?

Another way to avoid Hydroplaning is to install better tyres at rear yes at rear Normally what we do in Pak is to install better tyres at front.

No substitute to safety.. As you loose friction/ grip due to layer of of water underneath the tire...

Traction control cant avoid a car from hydroplaning.. It can reduce but if your speeding. Traction control comes into play but it will not be able to stop you right there . The vehicle will still skid. The stopping distance also increase.

So best possible way to avoid is " SLOW DOWN"

Well better tire under all fenders.. is required and a sensible head as well on two shoulders who sits on the wheel.

It cant be avoided altogether..
