In india they discontinued corollas because people were more inclined to buy sub compact sedans. Selling Sedans over 4.2 mils will be a very tough ask now.

In India there are many crossovers in what I would call BR-V range. And also in 1.0-1.3 litre category like Tata Nexon etc. Thats why.

Legislation and enforcement will do little to improve things in my opinion. Until we become a bigger market, I don't think there will be incentive to invest more than companies currently are investing.

Very reasonable price, thinking to sell my civic x now.
This will definitely hurt honda and toyota.
Cause 1.8 civic is pretty sluggish and turbo is overpriced with no extra features.

Joke with the masses. Someone should enlighten Mr. Mansha that Genesis is the actual premium brand.

I hate to say but it seems Corolla is a better option at the moment.

I think they do not have the capacity to produce lot of cars...

That is why they only launched one variant....GLS and that too with same engine of Tuscon 2.0L

1.6 was a better option to launch...pricing and launch has disappointed many prospective buyers...

Let's see how may units they are able to sell....

my guess is not more than 200 cars a month...

No doubt Corolla and Civic are much better options....

Should have used a BRAIN before finalizing 2.0L engine....

But still the INVESTORS would buy and sell the car on premium....for the IMPATIENT wealthy buyers....

They PRICED it higher even than 1.8 CIVIC ORIEL & 1.8 ALTIS GRANDE (BLACK INTERIOR)...

My 2 cents buy a SUV instead of this car if u have this much money....

Buy a DFSK Glory 1.8 CVT for 4.1 Mil
OR a MG ZS 1.5 L (Automatic) for 4.1 Mil

Seems better equipped than the pkdm civic and grande at similar price. Should do just 'ok' until the 1.6 arrives.
Is it missing any major features found on global models of elantra?

At 4 million it is really not that bad but I personally think civic is much better in looks then this plus is current generation but Elantra is certainly better in the features and performance department but does have some cost cutting like not having leather seats and auto dimming mirror
It will be a good addition to the market I hope this launch is a step in the right direction for nishat
This car is definitely going to give a hard time to its competitors but still doesn’t stand out

Don't forget the 10 way electric seats, a huge advantage in my opinion since civic has pretty low seats and no much to adjust.
Grande has great seats i travel long distances on grande only.
Civic hurts my back

Agreed it’s the first in the category to have them in addition to lumber support it is quite useful and the passenger seat is also height adjustable in it

The rear ac vents are a very good addition as well they were already in civic but still aren’t available in corolla
Plus other features like wireless charger apple CarPlay auto headlamps and rain sensing vipers are also pretty nice
The annoying part by far are the fabric seats at this price point and the fact that this is an old generation

Unfortunately Pakistani mentality is that anything that is higher priced is an upgrade. Tons of people that did not know anything about features sold sportage's to buy tucson just because it was newer and 2 lakh more. It's the same here with the elantra being more most corolla/civic buyers will see a newer trendy car for just 1 lakh more. Had they launched the same car below the others due to our dumb mentality those existing corolla/civic owners would have seen it as a downgrade regardless of whether the product offered more.
