I went and checked the Elantra myself, i really like the car and yes the infotainment system is pretty nice as well. I currently own a civic 2018 as well and i am a satisfied civic user with no complaints whatsoever. However, there's no day and night difference between the quality. Infact, Civic has an overall better cockpit then the Elantra. I still might sell my civic and get the Elantra as i want to experience the Elantra as it has some new features which i subjectively would like to have in my car.
There's no need to categorize one car as horrible if you like the other one i reckon.

I am not talking about looks. Civic's interior definitely looks better and that is why I preferred that before comparing both cars in person. The Elantra just seems much better made with better quality materials. I was recently also in a 2016 Civic and it was very surprising at how horribly the interior has aged. Atlas unfortunately cut a lot of corners with it. Same is the case with Indus as well as the corolla x seemed to have similar low quality materials. Even my 2010 corolla and my father's 2013 civic seem to be better made. The materials in current corolla and civic seem more in line with my 2017 city which is just an embarrassment. Its great that you have no complaints, but that does not mean that it invalidates other people's experiences.

Well, i am not invalidating your experience.
You are generalizing things as per your own individual experience, it's actually not like that.
I have seen plenty of 2016 civics with no signs of aging, it all depends upon a persons usage. I do wonder how a 6 year old elantra will age though.
Civicd quality might not be as per your expectations but others might consider it to be fine. I saw multiple paint defects on the elantra which i saw, i cant say that Elantra has a worst paint quality. I own one 2018 civic which is driven 25k kms and there are 3 other civics in my family. One is 2016(almost 1 lakh driven) and the remaining 2 are 2017 model( around 50-60k driven) . All of these cars have reasonable build quality and none of the cars have aged in a 'horrible way'. The way you're putting it here feels like the civic has been put together with papers and straws and might fall apart anytime.
( P.s. i own this vehicle and have been personally experiencing it from 3 years whereas, your experience is based on seeing a couple of cars only that 2 for a.short duration of time. )

I had 2015 elantra (5th gen facelift) with 2.0 GDI I4 engine in KSA. It is a very reliable engine and many taxi companies use Hyundai elantras with big miles on odo too. There was 1 issue i had with my car though. Upon sudden acceleration/revving up the car would lose power with thick white smoke from exhaust. It was under warranty so i took it to Hyundai Naghi motors. They replaced engine head gas kit and issue was resolved, but it popped up later again. There was this white smoke issue with 2015/16 (5th gen) elantras worldwide. Youtube videos also available, but i am sure Hyundai must have resolved this problem in later models.

I'm sure the other dozens of threads with complaints about the civic x are lies as well. Idk why some people here have to defend their cars to death. Its great that you and your family have had a good experience. But you are acting offended like I'm personally insulting you while I am just sharing my opinion.

Trust me you would've known if i felt insulted or offended by your posts.
The sample size you have to form your opinion is almost nill .
If you really honestly want to form an opinion then i suggest you to increase your reach and research by looking at more cars and compare them yourself.
Having looking at 2 cars for a brief time and reading the forums to give your final verdict here is irresponsible i reckon. There are people who come here for genuine and honest feedbacks so act sensibly and understand what i am trying to say here.
Lastly, i never defended my car. I just stated what i have experienced infact my opening post was in favour of Elantra which i suppose you missed out completely.

100% agree on quality. Don't know why people argue on this as its an established fact.
In-terms of quality civic x is horrible from dashboard panels to exterior body parts everything is misaligned.
the auto tensioner of my civic x has died twice ( even mechanically this car is not good enough)

I too personally inspected Elantra and its a much solid well built car.

I drove a 2017 civic for a good 4 years and 60k kms and sold it last month. Although thankfully, i did not face any known issues, but i agree with you, the plastic materials and rubbers used were pathetic. They have actually tried to cut costs in a lot of things.

Another reason why Elantra has better build quality is that all of its interior parts are imported whereas civic X has been localised to a large degree

Luckily I haven’t faced any issues with the vehicle and I’ve driven 45K
Car doesn’t rattle either

Don't know about Elantra's parts quality, but can say that Atlas paint quality done on Civic X is really bad and does not age well. The color fades off within 2-3 years and gives an impression as if it is repainted.

Honda Atlas used to be a good company but their quality controls have declined a lot and apparently they have been cutting corners since last few years. Maybe an effect from change in control to the group's 2nd generation that seem to be more concerned about minting money in any way they can.

I believe what happened is that now most of the items in the car are locally made, which is good for the country. But unfortunately this led to a big decrease in the build quality of the car and the localization doesn't seem to have decreased the price of the car one bit. It seems to just have increased the profitability of the company at the expense of the customers.

Yes, according to Hyundai the Elantra is about 70 percent imported while the civic is around 30 percent imported. Seems like we are not getting much of a price reduction by localization but are getting a huge decrease in quality.

I went to Honda township motors where they had an accord (which some moron had already bought for 1.5cr, imagine that) and a civic. The difference in build quality was just immense while throughout the world, civic is supposed to be just a bit worse than the accord. Trust me, Elantra's build quality seems closer to the Accord's rather than the Civic's. Atlas has somehow even managed to make the steering wheel rim hard on the civic like a freaking Mehran. Just straight up appalling.
