6 out of 10 Kia/Hyundai vehicles require new engines within 2 years - they fail in spectacular ways though - but Hyundai provides a new one under warranty - rest ancillaries broken by engine shrapnel like the ac compressor or alternator or wiring being ripped is paid by customer (very cunning lawyer written warranty documents)

The engine problem is pertinent to USDM and for engines manufactured at Hyundai Alabama.

The engine fault / recall didn't effect the vehicles outside US otherwise there would have been recall in Europe and other regions as well or atleast news of fire or failure from other regions.

PKDM sportage engine has a reported failure but it is thought to be overheating/ failure of Catalytic converter and that's why KLM is asking customer to have CC cleaned after every 10K on odometer at cost [ additional maintenance cost on top of already expensive routine maintenance and parts ]. Poor quality fuel as per KLM.

The engines are failing in europe too, but that market doesnt get the same recall or warranty.

In my organization three Kia Sportage vehicles are running on Corolla diesel engines. The swap is quite successful.

Of course these are old model Sportage but engine failure happened quite early. And then parts availability became an issue, so Corolla diesel engine was the preferred solution.

There is a reported case of Kia Sportage Engine failure. The reported engine was investigated and opened and metal shavings were found [ pictures attached ] . Some engine oil was also found on the air filter. A KIA dealership replaced engine and it was around a PKR- 1.2 Million warranty claim. Around 25000 kilometers on the odometer.

Sportage and Tucson use the exact same engine and as of engine recall , both Kia/Hyundai engine has a recall with over 760 million lawsuit.

I am sorry if posting it here troubled anyone , the same post will be copied in the Sportage thread as well. BTW, engine issue was already discussed many times in Sportage thread but thanks for reminding, I will refresh it.

I don't think there is harm in posting engine failure of sportage in Tucson thread since both share same engine in Pakistan so why be so angry also its relevant because it shares same engine.

as you are unaware of "search engines"

you can also use a brand new technology called the internet and on there use a search engine like google where you can search for relevant libraries.

You have your number, check them with the number of sales vs surviving/remaining cars and you get your answer, but thats only recall stuff, to get information of warranty replacement you need to be in this business.

But as you are not in this business and are a staunch believer that “own money” is kept by brand owners. You are incapable of knowing such because you are not of this business of gnarly hands and dirty fingernails

E.g. you wont agree that every nissan dealer changes 15 cvt units per week across usa because its not public info, too bad it isnt - but it doesnt mean they are not bring swapped (this is the very reason nissan are in the toilet now)

On the same note that you dont beleive jdm cars are scrapped cars. Your lone belief doesnt change fact.

Sales statistics.

Recall Data. [ from 2011 till 2019 various models]

Adding from 2011 sales figures will give the total units and the recall is 4.17 Million will give us an approximate %.

Keep in mind this 4.17 million units is just the engine recall issue and for US only, Canada has their own recall for the same issue.

Also when settlement was reached and still waiting for Judge approval this year, just before that KIA HYUNDAI added few hundred thousand more vehicles to the recall [ Jan/Feb 2020].. So the total number might have jumped slightly over 4.17.
