Govt mulling slapping additional taxes on cars from next week

The government is considering promulgation of tax amendment ordinance next week, it was learnt on Friday.

Such taxes are increased to encourage people to come in the tax net. If a person is a non-filer, then he/she should be penalised for being a non-filer. This will serve as one of the incentives of becoming a filer.

nai, you forget the GST we pay on almost everything, Ata, cheeni, oil... add more taxes on mobile, ptcl... add even more taxes on petrol.. gas and electricity

Pakistan has high rate of indirect taxation haji sab gets big bijli ka bill with full of taxes... haji sab also pays taxes when he buys almost everything... small tajur bhai with mehrab is also paying indirect taxes

pakistani taxation system is designed towards these haji saab and tajur bhai... those who get INCOME TAX DEDUCTION are poor people who get double taxation ... you get deduction from source and then you also pay all indirect taxes

why should public pay taxes? for all retired beaurucrates, jarnail.. judgess... or people like Kashmala Tariq who get federal job grade 22 and plunders awaaam ke tax ka paisa?

ever look at a public servant in pakistan how they live like kings?

sorry, i can imagine your pain, but can you tell me what proportion of population you are?

Last i checked, it was less than 2% of population that gets income tax deducted from source, so this poor salaried class is not much of help to drive the country, the real money is generated through INDIRECT TAXATION, this revenue drives our top institutions like PIA, Railway, Steal Mill, Foji Foundation, Federal/Provincial bekaar nokar etc. etc.

bijli ka bill... PTV ka bill (in bijli ka bill)... gas bill... phone... GST.. federal duties.. travel taxes... and biggest of all petrol tax loot maar

Good, please keep giving tax and keep giving more!

Now let's go back to the actual point which is Government's plan to put more withholding tax.

Even if someone is filler, doesn't mean they will be saved from paying tax, only if someone with very high salary and pays 1lac monthly income tax, such people can adjust their income tax in running payroll.

Key Point: This government move will result in price increase for CARS, irrespective of filler or non-filler because only 0.0001% can adjust such high WHT taxes in their income tax, rest will not be able to get this back!!

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Wednesday told the Senate Standing Committee on Finance that only one percent people in Pakistan pays taxes while the ratio of taxpayers in India is 4 percent.

Not everyone who pay income tax is a filler, getting tax deduction from source doesn't make one a "filler", you have to file taxes which is another thing.

Yes, I am not talking about filing tax returns. I am just saying that the tax deducted at source is for all the salaried class so it should be more than 2%. Anyways its a news for me if its just below 2%.
