On February 12th, 2025, my vehicle was sent to Hyundai South for bodywork under an insurance claim, where it remained until March 3rd, 2025. The car was returned to me without a road trial.
Immediately upon driving it home, I noticed jerks while shifting to R or D. Over the following days, the pickup deteriorated significantly, and fuel economy dropped to under 4 km/litre.
Upon leaving the car for inspection, I was told verbally by a representative at Hyundai South that the ECM needed to be replaced, and the cost would be PKR 400,000. Shockingly, no formal diagnostic report was provided, and the issue was conveyed to me in an entirely informal manner without any technical documentation, scan results, or even a written quotation. This is unacceptable given the seriousness of the issue and the cost involved.
I received no written assessment or clarity on how the ECM failed, especially considering the vehicle has only 45,000 km on the odometer and is just two months out of warranty (warranty expired in December 2024).
Nonetheless, while I have been on their heads to find me a solution, I need to know if I can take it to some other place for a second opinion. Are outside people reliable? I first need to know if it is an ECM issue and if it is, how much it would cost.
any leads would be helpful.
