I want to convert my toyota corolla 2000 diesel, 2C engine into petrol, please suggest is ot a good option ? and how much it will devalue the car ? which petrol engine is best to be converted ? also its cost ? without alteration?

Converting to gasoline from diesel would not devalue it since diesel in sedans is obsolete nowadays. 4AFE/5AFE works brilliantly in these models along CNG if you want to keep economy in perspective without loss of much power. But what is your issue with diesel engine first of all?

Overhauling engine is tricky since it all depends upon the expertise of mechanic. If you have the budget, consider buying a used engine. Take a mechanic along you and he could help you find a good engine. Swaping with gasoline isn't a bad idea either, 5AFE is easy to find. What is your location?

Not sure about engine prices as these keep varying. You can search through forums, quite a few people have bought engines. Once you have an idea, you could discuss further.

a petrol engine with ecu , wiring & transmission will cost over PKRs. 100,000 with no history at all. add nitty gritty plus the labor it will cross 135000 figure.

Nobdy knows for how long that engine is rotting in yard from which variant of vehicle it has been taken off. PLUS the registartion book need endorsement.

over haul with maximum oem parts.. will cost much less, and the vehicle remain in its stock configuration.

do the maths and calculate the risk of buying an engine of unknown history & origin

One misconception among people is the theory of engine's history. If you are technical enough or have a trusted mechanic along you, it's not a hard nut to crack. Prices of engines vary according to their condition. People swap engines everyday. It's all about choices.

respectfully, ask your trusted mechanic if he know how to perform a compression test of an engine in a vehicle and how would he be able determine the yard engine health without such test. ??

Swaping 5afe,7afe leads to 130k+......overhaul your 2c with oem parts.Not alter its orignality....better to sale it and buy some other one with petrol engine....

And people those who buy engines, do that after compression test? Many engine sellers in Shuba Bazar have their own workshop and offer warranty for even a month. They even offer replacement if an engine turns out to be faulty without any labor charge.

an engine is a machine which runs over gasoline starts through starter motor, it can move a car from point A to point B - if it fails in 30 days replace the engine, no labor charges, by such Definition
