Immobilizer can be bypassed?

Hi guys I was just surfing here and there and I saw an ad which was about making copies of electronic keys of Honda civic and other cars having immobilizer, my question is that every company claims that immobilizer is perfect anti theft system and electronic keys can't be copied, so are they lying?

I asked the same question from a electrician who makes keys, He told me that he needs to reprogram the newly made key, which takes some formalities and temporary connections/wiring. and He thinks that it can not be done on a road side or by a car lifter.
I will go to him in few days and will ask him to make another key for my car and then I will see the whole procedure and will try to take snaps and post them for our users

There is a DIY thread here where a member has described how to make copies of electronic key....that DIY is only for keyless entry system to work and it needs the original key too
However to hook the key to ECU or immobilizer, you need to get it programmed from honda or the manufacturer

Electronic keys can be copied, but only if you already have an existing key. If you lose all the electronic keys then the immobilizer needs to be reprogrammed to accept a new key.

So if someone wanted to steal a car that has an immobilizer, he would need to get hold of a copy of the original key or break into the car and reprogram the immobilizer to accept a new key, (which obviously will take time).

So the usual breaking into car and hot wiring trick will not work with such a car. The thief needs to be more technically proficient.

some systems are pretty dumb and can be bypassed - some are integrated across the whole car and it wont work.

Nopes City does not include immobilizer, but I think Swift does....

to bypass vehicle immobilizer u need to re-flash / change few bits of the immobilizer EEPROM in ECU. again its not an easy task, fisrt u need to de-solder delicate SMD EEROM then u need a proper EEPROM burner . . . + Programming skills

its really interesting when you start to mess with multiple levels of such.

I have got a few emails somewhere from Pakistan asking about to make keys for a mercedes - some key maker removed the two chips from the electronic ignition switch and when he mounted them on a board he sort of crossed a connection - rendering them useless.

Now we dont have a working EIS. lol

Try EMP to fry out the immobilizer just kidding. Well depending on the type of immobilizer and communication protocol it does with ECU can reverse engineer it. Provided you can track the communication between them

A car thief on local news (read sing and dance) channel was explaining it and I just overheard it.

He claimed that they normally observe the car for a good ten days before lifting it. He was also showing a spare ECU they carry along, along with jammers and other instruments.

Insurance (halal or haram) seems to be the safest bet ATM.

Smart Key based immobilizer system is more complicated to bypass. People here in Isb/Pindi jst Programmes the duplicate key only if u have the original smart key with u @ 10 to 12K. Plz do some google "SMART KEY programming" if in case u have no key with u then they do stupid chipping joghars & take alot of time + money.

There is a giant problem of "duplicate smart keys" which should originally be a series of smart keys.
