Importing an RX3i # story of Two Evil sisters

Start of the Year 2016 one of my agenda was to get a comfortable yet powerful adventure motorcycle because since 2013 when I actually started to travel long distance on bike I switched like a reasonable number of bikes just to see if local market has any thing to offer for what adventure riding requires...

I rode a CG, used Paiggio, engine swapped paiggio, Sprinter, even used CD70 to travel b/w ISD to LHR.
one fine day some where in 2014 @dr.omair introduced me to CSC-Cyclone RX3 initially i thought its the same Chinese crap but then I noticed some thing quite more fishy then just being Chinese...

1 - It had a Delphi's EFI
2 - It had country/region/Seller dependent variants
3 - The engine was claiming some really high figures in power and Torque

I started to follow this little vixen machine for straight two years on almost every forum and in 2016 I was full ready to get one for my self, and then I met Mr. Owais who actually was doing exactly the same from last two years as well..

Being a Biker we met over the face book exchanged numbers and next thing I was doing was to put half a million in pocket and went straight to ISD to meet him.. (itna aitbaar kerna nahi chahye but hota youn hai k bike banday say baat ker k he pta chal gay tha k Agal bhi Biker hai and bikers have #brocode and the follow it no matter if you met or not)
Its like the old saying.. Biker you haven't met is your friend you haven't came around yet..

We finally met bilal bhai who was our only point of reference in china told him the whole story that we are suffering from lousy local bikes and he said.. Hold on - I got this..

For now I am sharing the Pictures of the Two evil sisters AKA RX3i bikes which finally arrived to Pakistan and now zooming around.

The purpose of this thread is to share knowledge of import process with all who might be interested to get a reasonable machine and get rid of Sh*t load of local carp we have here.

Second purpose of this thread is to share all pros & cons of the given bike and also share sources from where one can get maintenance and parts for it.

1st of all congratulations on your successful import of beautiful machine
2nd your thread is very informative and a hope for those who wants something new in their travel gear ... now a days I am using GS150 for long tours but I will definitely go for more batter bike in near future In Sha Allah maybe your thread help us in this regards

The negotation with zongshen on price and model#

Owais did a quite a good home work and received details over the fone from them prices were as low as $1400 and as high as $2600.

All directly depending on package you are looking after... but initially the mistake happened that we understood that the model we were looking for is for $1850 and our friend also agreed, this mistake later on turned into blessing in disguise...

intial budget which we expected to turn out was roughly 4.9lakh over all for this american variant package.

and we applied for two bikes one blue and the other white.. the factory asked for complete upfront payment, so we paid it via TT transfer and the factory responded quickly and asked to visit its ware house to collect the vehicles, when our friend went there .. and took photos of bikes and sent us, they were not the CSC type variant we asked for..

so we got a bit worried and asked him to talk to them that there is no CSC variant in there ware house..

problem arose when they told they do not know much about CSC nor they disclose their customers information/trade secrets and business secrets to other customers.. but they did agreed to make variant according to our wish.

Which was exactly saying the same.. lol

so we gave the the complete details of Bike specs we were looking forward just removed the "American CSC" name from the document so that they can feel comfortable with it.

The final invoice per bike was $5100 in which $1500 were only budget for custom/duty/taxes

and karachi to lahore shipment was $250 and their were many interesting figures which made me laugh out loud...

becuase i knew that some one is trying to rip me off

Well this deal was done on ur end to seal the budget as in imports you never have a concrete figure of how much amount will be spent.. later on after 35days of manufacturing we came to know that the bike with those specs wont come to KHI port due to regulations.. and we will have to opt gor a grey Import procedure via some duty free port.. hence more kharcha..

Yes zongshen ships it self to the listed customers who do business with it, in our case we were listed because of non bike equipment which we buy regularly from them.

for non listed customer they have to engage some local broker from there.. or some one who is already doing import they always have a solution.

1 - yes this is the right question to ask.. becuase I knew KHI to LHR is no way 250$ as I import engines regularly so I told my consignee that I will recieve my bike from KHI - even though I recieved it in LHR but I saved this money through a trick..

2 - I droped the spare parts costed 300$ becuase I knew local source.. beside Zonghsne RX3 is known for its releaiblity so I knew ye kahi nahi janay wali.

3 - Travel cases Alunimium were too expesive I opted for Plastic cases becuase from other source I had cheaper offers.

Total money saved 300+350+250 = 900$ Huge one..

But I did not knew that worse was comming...

so the worse was that we did not knew that the price qouted by factory was for chinese varaint.. also they ship it to the FOB port them self and that only after the know whom they are shipping too..

once they came to know that dest. is PK they declined to ship bike of those specs, on changing our stance that we can have the bikes in UAE they told us that it would cost 2600$ .. BUMMER

In this all "Khap Khapaya" a whole month got wasted.

Bilal bhai (the guy who was doing this for all of us) was pushed to use his long term relation ship links with zong people and pursue them as I backed off and told him that I will not pay a penny more, I said a bike on invoice if going 2600$ the customs would rape us.. his links woprked out but still the invoice price was increased to 2400$ from already whooping 2200$

Mr Owais my partner was not happy on this 20,000~ ka teeka... but anyways the order was finally accepted on terms that they wont ship it to KHI and will ship it to UAE and we would detour it as grey import to PK only due to this variant issue, if we opted for CHN/Asian one then it would not been an issue.

You did great research I wonder what's the differences in performance and reliability between plain vanilla Chinese version to European model. I saw your Facebook page about it but does that Chinese parts in Chinese variant are a real let down?

Theres are basically 3 base models on top of that any one can choose different "factory" offered ad-ons.

1 - Carby

2 - Efi Chinese

3 - Efi Delphi

-> Further any base platform from above can have Large Wheel and large suspensions setup from taiwan origna or can have smaller one which is chinese and good for short hieight people.

-> Further comes the electronics setup which can be basic(chinese) or International(always on front beam)

-> Adveture add Ons, comes optional factory fitted if asked cigrette lighter, center stand, USB charger, 300Watt 2-phase Alternator for powering up camp or a drill machine or any thing, LED main Lamp, Gel battery, Alumium saddle and side pannier cases, under seat camp electricity jack, e.t.c...

Me and Owais chose

Delphi Platform as base
Larger Wheel and suspension
Basic electronic setup (for more control over the light and beams) hence understandable to local electricians
Fulll feature Adventure addons.

For your query @asjdm yes the chinese version it self is a very very veeerry good bike neverthless it was not what I was lookinh for.
