man i have experience with these wardens many times... They are polite and they never waste your time... The tell you the reason they stopped you, hand over the documents and they will let you go in a minute or 2.... In last 5 years i had challan for 4-5 times and they never ever wasted more than 05 minutes.....

Yes ma Dear Brother this is the main reason that our Country is still not developed!!!

Try changing your self first than raise fingers on other!!!

i prefer paying challan of RS. 350 or watever instead of giving bribe of Rs. 100.

(Indeed giving bribe saves a lot of time and money as well) but still its a BRIBE!!!

(Time saving i mean going to bank to deposit Challan Money than go to Relevant Traffic Police Office to get your License).

Hum Pakistani logon mein ager hosla ajaye to hum log bhe Taraqei ker sektay hain.... for eg.. standing in QUES (anywhere), we people always try to find some way out to skip this whole line and for this we give bribe... this implies on all the things where we use RED NOTES!

and yeah i just noticed ur city (KARACHI)...

i went to Karachi in 2009. Ma Cousion there had a Black GLI than with all windows fully tint and no number plate...

we was stopped 10-15 times in 4 days stay... but ma cousion never stopped.... Karachi mein to WARDENS ko koi sunta he nhai hai!!!

I agree bro... they are good with people like us (corollas/civics/city lot).. Because they know we are educated enough to tackle them.. They do not dare to take unnecessary 'panga' with us...

Its a norm here... Jo dabta hay usay dabao.. Jo dabay usay mazeed dabao!!!... Their behavior is quite different with uneducated, naive, dhoti/kurta, punjabi speaking, old mazda driven small town people!.

p.s I was a consultant working for police department for 3 years.. Was banging my head on the wall trying to reform their working conditions/style!

You are right. Here in Karachi, all we have to do is to bribe the traffic police guy. They stop us just to earn some money. Never give any challan.

I was pleasantly surprised when I visited Lahore and saw the wardens there. I also had a Challan, as I didn't know that the first lane in Mall road was moving towards right, and then I tried to come back to Mall road and they fined me. Warden took the license and then I had to go to the office later in evening to collect it after paying fine. It was a completely new experience, for someone to see the useless corrupt traffic policemen in Karachi all the time.

I spent 27 out of 30 years of my life in Lahore and believe me corruption is same in both cities, citizens are less to be blamed than the Govt. and system

i agree there is hell of corruption in Lahore as well...

but as far as i know condition of Lahore Police Wardens have been dramatically changed from 2005 or 2006 ( i dont rem exactly), when Blue Uniform Warden system was introduced instead of White Police Wardens.

This new system have mostly young Guys and they are efficient and they have helped Lahore to improve alot...

Bhai aap bhi adhi baat kar rahe ho. Why Rikshaw , why not ambulance? We have very excellent rescue 1122 service for emergencies like this.

Allah na kare, if this was ur son dying what would u do? dail 1122 and wait for ambulance to come or drive him to hospital urself? everyone is ready to blame others. do u know of how many cases happen almost every day in western countries where people drive their loved ones (and even strangers in need) themselves to hospital??? and do u know traffic police allows them to go through and even sometimes escort them. and do u also know that once the person reaches hospital the police does his chalan and most of time they have to appear in court?!!
that is the civilized way of doing things.
a few years ago, in Abu Dhabi, my cousin suddenly got very sick at night and complained of pain in chest (it turned out to be bronchitis) i drove him myself to nearest hospital and i was over speeding, a police car stopped me and when the guy saw my cousin in pain he said to follow him and he switched his lights and siren on. when we reached the hospital and my cousin was taken into ward. the warden said he will have to give me chalan for overspeeding and i said ok.
when someone is dying i think only a cold hearted person (who has a car available right then and there) will say 'let us wait for ambulance as i do not believe in over speeding'.
kya zamana agaya hai. people like urself and all others who support the warden deserve leaders worse than zaradari, kyun keh jaisey log waisay hukmaran!!

Whatever happened with the warden was 100% correct. Infact his bones should have been broken so that he remember this for the rest of his life. A patient was dying and the ******* was asserting his authority.

how many times due to security of top dogs of this country many people died because of medical emergency, mom's gave birth on the road and how many students couldent reach to examinatin centres.

If I was in place of the car's driver comming from out of city (like the driver told on T.V) I would have handed the patient over to 1122 at Thokar Niaz Baig so the could provide the patient first aid and take him to the hospital in ambulance to avoid traffic issues which the driver faced in this scene.

A couple of months ago my neighbour got a severe heart attack they called my dad as he is a doctor. He told them to shift him to hospital urgently as the patient's condition was very critical. They did not have a car so they asked us to take the patient to hospital. We called 1122 to come towards our colony, in the mean while patient was loaded in our car and I turned hazard lighs + headlights on and started towards the gate of our colony. As I reached the gate of colony I saw 1122 ambulance so I waved at them to stop. In no time the patient was transfered from our car to the ambulance.

Moral: Do utilize the benefit of an ambulance I you have one nearby because traffic cannot understand your emergency if you are in normal car.

yes, what you are saying is absolutely true; the example you gave of your cousin is what should actually happen. but this is Pakistan.

if it was me there i would have taken rickshaw or seek help of anybody nearby. but it is for sure that i would not have waited for half an hour debating with warden and seeing my brother die. even i would have left the car unattended to make sure my brother reaches hospital because the life is so priceless.

anyway, this is a sad incident:( and we all should learn lesson from this. or waisay bhi tension main banday ka dimagh band ho jata hai.

i agree that warden should have understood the gravity of the situation and left them as they do with other people. but, i think, he didn't do so because it was mall road and a lot of VIP traffic passes from there. all wardens have to follow the rules strictly over there.

still i put the responsibility more on the deceased's family rather than warden; they didn't take right steps.

People can rationalize all they want but ground reality is that if, God forbid, they were in the same position with their dad/mom in critical condition they would have done the same thing or even worse. It is easy to apply societal norms and ethics and what not on others; It is also easy to apply solutions like 1122 in hindsight.

sorry to say but right now from what my lovely country suffer is exactly these people who don't follow rules and don't give a damn about other people lives ....they don't think for a sec what their action can do to others but for themselves only....just like wild animals .....these people are every where and have their hearts locked ..... no education no knowledge seems to change them .... god forbid if revolution comes from these people than u will see saneha sialkot every day .....

and i tell u what if that patient died in hospital than they will beat the crap out of doctors and hospital staff claimming that the patient died from staff negligence ....
