BTU stands for British Thermal Unit. 12,000 BTUs = 1 ton of refrigeration, 18000 BTU = 1.5 ton and so on. Its not like higher the better, it all depends on the volume of your room and that should dictate what tonnage you require. Normally, good brands do have sort of calculators available on their websites. I have ordered 16,000 Btu unit from , will be delivered in a few days. Will share the data sheet on the forum for information of all.

gree 1.3 bought for 59,000 its usage i have yet to calculate york 1.5 consumes bw 8-9 amps gree 1ton consumes 7-8 and after 3 to 4 hours goes down to 3-4amps.

You are making way too sweeping statements. You just can't say that it consumes 10-15 amps and then after 4 hours comes down to 3-4 amps. You need to have the data, real time data and then plot it on graph. It depends upon what the ambient temperature is and what temperature you've set on your thermostat. That would basically dictate what effort needs to be put in the compressor. Under normal circumstances, it should take somewhere between 20-40 minutes for the compressor to start easing out on amps. Not 4 hours. I'll soon attach a data sheet of Haier, Gree and Acson inverters here.

I don't know why Orient does not make it to the comparison charts. Last May 2016 I bought Ultron Plus for 65k. It was consumed for about 13 hours total daily in a ground floor room with very little exposure to sunlight (about 4-5 hours). Set mostly at 27 degrees in a room 16x14 feet. For first 15-20 minutes it takes 8-9.5 ampere and next 20-30 minutes about 4-5 ampere and rest time about 1.8-2.5 ampere. I have heard gree never goes below 2.3ampere. Out of 13 hours usage about 50-60 minutes is at 8-9.5ampere(about 2.2 units at 220V), about 50-60 minutes at about 4-5 ampere (1.1 units @220V) and about 11 hours at 1.8-2.5 ampere (6.05 units). So about 9-10 units max. for 13 hours @27 degrees. I have to buy a second unit and looking for feedback about Gree which is about 7-9k more than orient in price. Not sure about consumption pattern at 27 degrees

So what's the difference amongst orient ultron, ultron plus and ecomfort variants?
Dealership said all the same thing inside just sticker change on indoor unit.

I know that ultron and plus only have slight difference in terms of aesthetics only I.e. ultron plus is slightly better. Orient company outlet also told Me last year that some dealers sold ultron with an ultron plus sticker by putting sticker on indoor unit. So I bought from company outlet. Price difference was 5k at that time. Ecomfort introduced this year so I don't know about its features. May be it was wi-fi

I got 3 gree units today from afzal electronics abid market.. gs 18lith11m 1.5ton for 74k each..their outer units are huge in comparison to their old models, hier and other brands..The salesman did his job and conviced me to buy it saying its outer units is gold coated, better throw etc etc..i was initially going for last years model cith2g which was around 69k each.. these lith11m specific models are made for dealers only.. i called gree helpline and they said these are new lomo series for this year..i still dont know why only afzal electronics have them..as i dont see then anywhere else...gree wont have this exact model on their diaplay showroom saying these are produced only for dealers..i think the name and model no is only different..internally everythings the same.. i dont know how will they perfrom..will let everyone know when i install and run them.

Bought the same from Afzal Electronics Sialkot for 71000k including installation and got it installed a few hours ago. Will update electricity usage in a few days. Connected it with wifi app so I can run it before I reach home.

I really dont have time to sit down and plot graphs neither did i write 10-15amps in my post.The amps i mentioned are measured with clamp meter with a.c at 26c and my observation has been that once the a.c is able to reach desired temp then current consumption reduces not after 20 mins.

A newbee question ... Do i have to use circuit breaker with 2 ton invertor especially when it can. Run on 150 volts...
