Inverter Type AC in Pakistan (Inverter/Non Inverter Dedicated Discussion)

I finally pulled the trigger on LG W246K3A1 at LG official store opposite Al-Fatah Lahore. Just got delivery, the indoor unit packing is fine, however, outdoor is messed up (see pics). I contacted the sales guy at LG asking whether its a used unit and he is saying no and that just the packing is in poor state. I would buy this argument, however, the plastic straps are loose which for some reason is making me nervious. Any advise?

He also said the unit is Made in Korea but I don't see that on the outer packing either, just says Made by LG Electronics

I am talking about Islamabad and he used a proper compressor.

They probably don't vacuum the lines in routine as I specifically asked him to bring the pump. Later he told me that next time he would charge extra for using pump.

Please ask them to replace complete unit and provide the one in new and proper packaging .

Standard pipe length has to be 10 feet and I feel pulling the vacuum is required

pulling a vacuum is required even if the lineset is 1ft.

the reason to pull a vacuum is that you need "neat" refrigerant in the lines, air mixed with refrigerant in the lines messes up the heat transfer properties. You will end up with a warm system or a system that ices over.

you will need a vacuum pump and follow proper procedure when releasing the gas and topping it off.

the idiot shop keeper had "ONE" person lift it with the straps - the bottom of the box dug in because of that. There is a reason it says to use two people to hand lift the box.

R&I has been making pathetic quality Homage inverters and their service center is flooded with inverters that come everyday for repair and if you go their for the repair of your own inverter, they will return it to you after a week or more because of load of work. And this sh*tty company is now assembling Kenwood Air conditioners and god knows with what quality parts. No wonder cooling of Kenwood Inverter Air conditioners is very good. Have personally observed that but not sure if those will serve the purpose for few years or just go bad like those Homage inverters in a few months.

People who are using kenwood Inverter ACs may enlighten us.

Is there even any good product made locally? I'm done with Haier and from the comments here every locally manufactured product seems to be having a problem

How are dawlance inverters, the company was just recently bought by a pretty big Turkish group.

My homage inverter is in 7th year of service now and working fine. I don't disagree with you though, a lot of people might be facing severe issues with their products. I have one kenwood installed in my drawing room and is seldom in use. Its probably been one and half years but I haven't had any problems with it.

Dawlance is a good company. Every product I have used was reliable and customer support equally good. Much better than that sh** Haier.

Hi everyone,

So had a Dawlance non-inverter 1.5 ton that I used for like 4-5 years.

Was thinking to buy inverter so bought a Gree GS-18VITH1 Viola Series 1.5 Ton few days back.

Me and my wife think that at 26C, the cooling is like, not that chilled (compared to our Dawlance non-inverter).

I wonder why is that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, I live on 1st floor, our roof is not properly insulated, outdoor unit is in direct sunlight. And because of kids, at times, it could get tricky to ensure all doors are closed all the times.

My sis has Orient Ultron plus inverter 1.5 ton and dang, that's way more cooler (though that's ground floor, and room is smaller compared to ours).

I am from Sahiwal and I first contacted Gree people to know about the authorised vendors here, they sent the guy but I'm not sure if they did vacuuming.

Anyway, would be great to hear your opinions and maybe I need to change lifestyle or something.

I asked the sales guy but he said ke befiqar rahain humara installer aap ke samnay unit kholay ga..naya hai. I'll discuss with my father tomorrow on what to do next.

You seem informed on refrigerant. Can you please provide important things I should look for while the guy is installing AC. I'll definitely be making sure that he vacuums. Saw this video about detailed setup instructions, however, I doubt any electrician (including LG trained) are that thorough.

Wanting to get Kenwood kdc-1224s (1 Ton with 75% energy saving 7 star rating, good thing is its equipped with T3 compressor) quoted price is 56k including installation.

2md option is dawlance or pel new inverteron series 1 ton. Anyone can recommend that which one is better among all in terms of energy saving and good cooling?

Yes, and heat and cool efficiency clarification has also been done very well.

If you are opting for Panasonic cool only, find a "tropical" or "super tropical inverter" with R410a refrigerant. The model you currently have is R22, though still it was very successful during its time, but R410a models will even consume less power.

Many latest super tropical R410a Panasonic models, as per their catalogue, are fixed speed compressors, so thoroughly check before you buy.

I am too bad at remembering models, but i came across few that meet above criteria.
