if its a plaza then instead of floor units wouldnt a dedicated 5 ton chiller (440V) be better suited , ductwork is easier on commercial buildings too - the exposed pipework look is "IN" nowadays too.

You are right . Actually Building is on rent and we have to keep our equipment generic so it can be moved or we can sale in worst case. There is no provision of ducts in building.

+1 Regarding Shakir, I spoke with him over phone and he seemed very ordinary - i.e. nothing special. I was expecting a very technical guy But I had my doubts immediately when he said Mitsubishi is assembled in Pakistan and its "farigh".

Btw, I've also used InstaCool last year. The guy who came did Not know exactly how to pump and fitting of the outdoor unit was haphazard, he struggled for a while getting it up, and the refrigerant pipe is not nicely organized.

Last week I tried Workman Services - based off of recommendation from the shop I purchased AC from. They charged 2K for installation with vacuum. Quickly mounted the outdoor unit, cleanly organized refrigerant pipe and properly vacuumed. The guy who came in was the easiest to convince to vacuum for 20 mins. Afterwards, he followed the proper procedure to disconnect vacuum pump

i.e. Close manifold valve, open refrigerant lines and let refrigerant flow, then finally unhook the pump (quickly) - which will result in minor leakage of refrigerant.

The "official" LG installer, removed the vaccum pump Before releasing refrigerant, which meant the vacuum in lines sucked in some air.

Has anyone cleaned outdoor unit? Our lounge one has been in use entire last summer and now this summer and the fins are getting filled with dirt. Do I just wash it with pipe from the outside OR open up the cover and wash from inside -> out?

Yes I wrote the same. Shakir is an ordinary installer without any knowledge. Owning a vacuum pump doesn't make one a good installer.
Regarding insta cool, their owner Ali is petroleum engineer from UET and he knows the stuff, there are many installers in his team and all are not good and he himself cant manage to supervise every service request.
Again as I have written before, you have to take pain of your own equipment, professional honesty is very rare to find here. You have to supervise and make sure they follow the procedure.
We as a community should share our experiences as you did so other can learn from our experience.

You're right, he can't control the individual installers. I recall the installers frequently updating the owner (think he lives in Saudia?). In my case, one of the installers had the "ustaad" mentality and wanted to just get the job done with ("chaalo kero"), not really cared for workmanship.

Before assigning contract I made sure about installation procedure and his presence and I was there keeping an eye on them. He even guided and helped me to source the material directly from distributor but his service charges were above market. Yes you cant say with surerity about individual installer same goes with almost every service here, mechanics, construction even doctors.... In the end you have to take the pain yourself as no one is reliable. Its difficult to handle people in our society, they will lie on your face and to them its a normal thing, they didn't even set the right expectation.

I'm just sharing my experience, I have no affiliation with any installer.

I posted an update above about my LG not working properly (Inverter V) - turns out it was negligence on my end. I had not cleaned outdoor fins for around 2 years. Spraying the fins with water (not opening ocover or anything) reveled bulk of dirt that dripped through, since then AC's been working perfect. With a choked outdoor the compresssor was not able to effectively perform (release heat and all) - its working without a hitch now. So yes you can just clean the fins with water, that should clear up dirt.

Good to know, so you basically turned off the power and used regular gardening water pipe to spray water into the fins from outside? I'm a bit concerned about the condenser fan motor getting damaged?

it removes all the air and moisture from the lineset and the evaporator coil - so you have neat refrigerant in the system. If there is moisture and air in the lines your refrigerant (gas) becomes milawatt wali gas. (gas+air+moisture)

milawatt wali gas means useless performance.

I just turned the AC off and sprayed from the side. Worked fine.

Normal tap water pressure with soft brush will not damage anything. But focus only on cleaning coils than anything else there. Outdoor unit fan grill is removable in many brands, that makes it easier to clean coils from inside out.

Just ensure to let it dry thoroughly for few hours before turning it on.

Been doing this myself since last 10-12 years with no harm.

whats wrong with a blower? - usually its just loose dirt, unless the condensing unit is sitting on the floor near grass/dirt. - then I can see rainsplash and mud accumulating.

but - in any case dont let the moron AC tech use 20 saal tajurba caustic soda ash wash which destroys the metal.

Hello every one, need a bit of your support.

I purchased Gree 1.5 ton AC (GS-18FITH1C) two months back. It was working fine till mid of May, I was keeping set point around 28 deg C & AC was taking upto 6 amperes at start & reducing back to 3.2 A once set point is achieved (cooling was ok).

But since mid of May its efficiency has started decreasing during day time when ambient temperatures are high (Around 48 Deg C) and its not taking more than 4 amperes during day time but its cooling efficiency increases at night and amperes also start increasing in night.(Takes upto 6 amperes in night)(Much batter cooling).

outdoor unit was initially in direct sunlight but I made a temporary arrangement for shade, Slight improvement observed afterwards, But still AC runs at around 4 amperes in day time despite operating AC at 16 deg, Turbo mode, Full fan speed.

Can any one pls. guide me for possible causes & solutions.
