A new unit at my relative's house, they got it installed in last winter. Now when it was required to use the AC for the first time, they came to know that the AC is not cooling at all despite the fact that everything is apparently working.
To check the AC, they called upon the same AC technician who installed the unit at their home . I told them to force him to properly check the flared nut connections on the outdoor and especailly the connection joints on the indoor unit pipes at the back.
However, the technician left without doing anything saying that they don't see any imperfection in their work and it can be an internal leakage in the system as the unit is still in the warranty period, it is better to raise the complaint with manufacturer. And still he charged them for the visit without filling a single gram of refrigerant.
Now, I want to purchase the refrigerant myself, either a full cylinder or in limited amount and do the charging procedure myself.
I have got most of the tools and equipment for the AC/refrigeration work. Peviously, I have worked on totally junked car ACs at my home. Based on the practical knowledge gained from you and studying relevant literature, I can say that they are perfectly running to date.
This is the first time I will work on a split AC, so again I need your assistance. I will first check and re-do the flare connections at both ends if required, then I will pull the vacuum.
Now after this step, I am confused on how to proceed further, shall I start filling the refrigerant without the AC/ compressor turned on or the compressor has to be ON from the very first instance when filling refrigerant.
