I am thinking about buying a new Chinese 0.75-ton window for my room. I would go for a 1-ton split-type, but the issue is I live in an apartment, and my room location is where an outlet system is impossible to install. Another thing about split-type is their questionable reliability. We have a Gree 1-ton inverter split-type, and recently the coils went bad just a year later despite maintaining the system properly.
That leaves me with no choice but to go for a window type. We used to have a 0.75 ton, and I believe it was from a real O General bought it used in the early 2000s. At that time, I was a dense teenager who had no clue about its maintenance which ended up rusting the ac. We ended up abandoning it when we moved to a new home. I wish we never did that, it was so nice and so reliable. It never leaked, coils never went bad, and the only thing that did go bad was the motor bearing that got fixed for Rs. 1,000 back in 2015.
So I was searching for a brand new 0.75 to window ac around the internet, and all I found are pretty much the same. While the retailers on most videos claim it's from Gree, O General, etc. However, all seem to be from the same manufacturer in China. I did check for reviews, but nothing. Despite that, if someone does own these Chinese 0.75-ton window air conditioners, can they please share their experience, especially about their reliability? And if they ARE good, which will be the most recommended shop to buy one in Karachi?
