Thank you. So far so good. Outer is small compared to other counterparts but cooling is good.

Quality has taken a substantial dip across all brands (can't speak for midea) so the outrageous pricing doesn't seem justified.

Warranty of 2 years for the cooling coil was an absolute deal maker for me lol. My Dawlance Mega T Pros coil leaked on it's 14 month so I had to get it repaired on my own.

No vacuuming done. Thinking of investing in the equipment myself now.

Im getting the impression the most of these leaks are a result of non-vacuuming the pipes, which leaves moisture inside and that results in corrosion from inside. I have relatives whose Gree ACs have leaked as well, and there's were installed without vacuum too.

I've have always had good experience of ECO Star 1.5 ton ACs. They are sold by dwphome (same as Gree). Reasonable quality and much better throw and low noise level then orient/haier etc

Midea is here unofficially for quite sometime and in fact most of the flashy names in Pakistan AC market are rebadged Midea and other generic Chinese ACs. Yes you are right some big fish has recently started assembling them locally and the marketing is over the roof.

There’s this guy on YouTube who actually disassembles the condenser (outer) units of local ACs to check the quality of parts and internals.

I guess his name is rehan.

So many of these units are generic and then rebadged. Some even skip coils for cost cutting, most models do not use twin rotary compressor, most models do not use EEV and instead use capillary tube for managing refrigerant flow etc.

He has two basic logics:

• Imported foreign brand ACs have much superior build quality, less chances of leaks like Toshiba. I think he has talked about some LG inverter that is quite good
• If buying local assembled for warranty purposes, go for only the flagship (top of the line) model of company for the current year

Right now I think for local ones he is recommending TCL T5-SMT-G. Why I mention "G"? Because TCL is doing very very clever tactics, they have introduced 2 models with T5 tag - SMT-S and SMT-C, which are not the actual T5-G models that has EER of 3.6 and is more energy efficient. I got to know about this very very stupidly clever tactic of TCL through his videos.

Disassembling flagship LG dual inverter AC, lol he is all praise for its build quality + much thicker coils than locally assembled ones.
I won't recommend it though due to no local warranty/parts support.

Not sure.
Checked the above LG model online, one site selling for 200k, another for 280k.

These are not official imports, grey channel so not sure about their authenticity.

Samsung is the only CBU/completely imported AC available in Pak, with official support/warranty. 1.5 ton inverter around 270k. But not sure how good it is.

IMO flagship T3 models of local assembled units are good enough and come with some peace of mind.

Testing this AC - air temp lowered to 15.5C at 16C AC temp setting. Air throw was good. Pics attached.

Edit : checked after 20 mins, vent temp dropped to 13.2C

More than vent temp I guess it’s about how quickly and how well the whole room is cooled, like far ends or corners.

Units with high airflow volume should do it in no time and maintain it.
