Ive owned many turbo cars, and i suggest not listening to people that have no experience, rather just talk talk and talk.

any properly done engine is daily driveable, turbo cars have better fuel mileage if not driven in boost all the time. For example, my 2005 civic turbo used to take me from islamabad to lahore on motorway in half a tank with some boosting. Average mileage without boosting is around 14-15 km of these cars, but with boost they drastically go down to 6-7 km...

Turbo Cars Have Better Low end torque And Punch So If You drive sensibly on low revvs...yes you can get better mileage......!! and can be a daily driver too....!!

i drove my evo as a everyday ride its drains ur wallet and bum then got a scooby tht drains wallet like anything so now got a mazda6 dohc tht is much better and lighter on bum!

After my experience with this specific platform that being 3sgte:) i would add these points.
=> All turbo cars have better fuel economy, if you compare the power given by a 2000 CC 4th Gen is around 270 HP now compare this power which can only be achieved engines which have cap of 4000 to 6000 CC engines. Now if u compare the fuel economy of these big capacity engines with that of a 3sgte u will understand that turbo engines give twice as much fuel economy.
=> 3sgte is a great daily driven engine if u dont go over the top and increase the psi of alter the cams etc.
=> I would suggest the following mods to increase engine life.
=> Go for FMIC and ditch the top mount Inter cooler.
=> Go for a thermostat which has lower heat range lets say 68.
=> If possible get an oil cooler kit with oil filter replacement kit.
=> Make sure the Radiator which u use is of double grill one.

@ Ahad bro no offences but i think that boosting increase fuel economy as every last drop of fuel will be burnt so it increases the fuel economy, where as High boosting can retard the fuel economy. A lot of write up can prove it.

Boost is essentially air and it is compensated for with fuel to maintain your desired AFR's. More air = more fuel and hence your fuel needle goes down.

What Ahad means to say is that a boosted car can get you increased economy levels if driven as a sane man but obviously higher boost levels will drastically worsen your fuel economy.

No offence to xcaliber but anyone with "actual" hands on experience will point out that to run maximum boost on even stoichiometric 14.7-1 AFR will kill your engine.

And a prime 3S-GTE in 1994 (carlos sainz) wouldn't produce l
270bhp let alone in 2011

Secondly from your replies it evedent that if I use 3sgte
on low boost with proper installation of engine means
just like factory standard can be used for daily use.

Thirdly right now I have 7afe in my corolla 99 And my
daily running is 25-30 km means mostly from home to
office after installing 3sgte which is a performance
engine as compared to 7a ecnomical engine will double
my fuel consumption.

Fourthly and last what's the fuel requirment of 3sgte
means high octane all the time or regular fuel can be
used.

All I know if you are going for a gen2 or Gen3 3sgte, they are not fuel economic at all. That is my experience on it. Plus bro im sure 25-30km on a gas guzzler wont effect your pocket.

but still the ST205 GT-4 Celica wouldn't manage 270bhp but I think what you're trying to say and I will agree to it a 100% that the DLI 4th Gen 3S-GTE has loads of potential but is handicapped by the restrictive intercooler/piping setup , restrictive exhaust with CAT convertors and the stock drivetrain components

But can very gently manage 270 heck I've even seen a daily run ST205 churn 350bhp on 87RON

Bro when lemme when can i come to pick up my Supra . listen mate why do u keep misreading i never said even a word about the third gen ones. i was referring to 3sgte 4th Gen which on stock comes 260 HP and seriously 270 HP on the Flywheel would probably come from a less restrictive air intake and better piping and intercooler

1. YES 3sgte can be a Daily driver.
2. ur corolla would do around 10-12 kms in a liter. meaning 300 Rs/day.
3. High octane is fuel to use but its not that if u use regular super fuel ur car would not drive i would simply not perform 100% maybe at 80-90%.
