Hello, its my first post and I am planning to purchase my first car. I am highly interested in JDM and would like to purchase an unregistered car from the best showroom in Karachi which take care of all the legal and compliance related formalities from import of car to payment to register. I would like to know which is the most trusted name who would provide these services. Is Jan Japan the best showroom in Karachi and will handle all the matters in legal compliant way? I have shortlisted a car from there. I just want to be free and relaxed from all the legal complications. Any suggestions from senior and experienced members in this regard will be highly welcomed. I was initially keen to purchase a used car but changed my decision due to high risk compliance risk involved in dealer/previous owner not followed any best practices.

Just check the car just like you would check it any where else.

Thank you so much for your kind response. The only thing concerning me is that they are asking me to make pay order/ check on another business account name instead of Jan Japan motors. I don't know the business name for which they are asking me to pay. I was convincing them that I want to pay to their official bank account with the name of Jan Japan. Like when we purchase new vehicle from Indus Motor or Pak Suzuki, we make pay order on their account.

That is probably not possible these cars come in to Pakistan as grey imports.

People living abroad are entitled to bring a car as baggage or gift schemes.

People sell their passports to import these cars as gifts or personal baggage who never even know about the make model variant imported on their name.

P/O would be made on a name of a individual only. Who would have no relationship with the person on whoose name this car came on.

Hand over the P/O after you sign documents or exchange P/O with car and documents.

Why Jan Japan Motors ask to make payments to other names like MK Motors and IU Motors instead of paying to Jan Japan Motors name? Is it safe to do that? They ask this to everyone. They give proper receipt and everything but should I worry too much of paying to someone else's account instead of Jan Japan Motors.

Best is to inquire around, if other people have done same without any hiccup, ypu shouldnt have any hiccup too. You can ask them to give you receipt of the same letterhead

Because you're asking them to facilitate in something illegal e.g. your payment will be remitted through illegal channels or disguised for some other purpose and the person on who's passport the vehicle would be imported has no relationship with you.

Then how can you expect them to take payment thorough proper channels? They too have to justify their inward transactions.

Japanese imports are dealt this way only. If u need legal channels purchase a locally assembled car.

Your post is kinda vague whether the vehicle is already in Pakistan or you're planning to select one from Japan and ask Jan Japan to facilitate in importing it.

But the process through vehicle will be imported is by using loopholes in the system

You can look up the actual procedure to import a used vehicle in Pakistan, it's allowed under personal baggage, gift or transfer of residence. Now do u have a friend, relative or family member living abroad who'll pay for the vehicle or is Jan Japan handling that?

What they'll do is use passport of someone living abroad (pay them commission for that) and show that the payment for vehicle wasn't made from Pakistan where infact they can't provide a money trail that your payment went through legal channels from your account to Jan Japan Pakistan's, to their Japanese office and then to the auction house.

Really sorry for the confusion Sir. The vehicle is in Pakistan at Jan Japan Motors. I want to buy that but they are asking to make payment to another account. Not in Jan Japan's name. They claim that other account as one of their partner's. They will give proper receipts and I am highly interested in the car. However, I would not like to be associated with any car purchase or showroom transaction if its not in line with legal compliance. I am a tax payer and don't want any headache in future for this transaction. I also got many helpful responses and I sm thankful for them. I hope I have made myself clear.

Their is no confusion. The car was imported by A. Sold to B

You are buying the car from B by paying your tax earned money.

The car would be transferred on your name against xyz value.

If you are getting complete file then there's no issue, for your satisfaction you can pay some dealer a few thousand and ask him to check the file and vehicle, then get a sales receipt and possession of the vehicle then handover the pay order.

Maybe the vehicle's documentation is under the name of other party.

Almost every big jdm importer / reseller is doing this for tax reasons.
Bought from MDK carstop and they did the same , transferred to some account baig brothers or something , don't remember exactly, wrote a check submitted it (same bank) went there to and collected car +documents+ receipt that's it.

Once they had my money I was definitely getting my car one was or the other
