Is Vezel underpowered compared to Civic?

I currently have a reborn, and I'm thinking of making a shift to Vezel, but I've heard stuff about it being underpowered.

Can someone give me an honest comparison of the power it packs compared to Reborn or the new 1.8 civic (considering how Honda is not giving out turbos anymore).

I also don't like the shape of the new civic which is why I'm considering Vezel.

Check its power to weight ratio....divide the engine hp by the kerb weight of car....if it is greater than 0.09....then the car is good....otherwise it is underpowered...

Its around 0.125.
160/1280 = 0.125.

Then it is ok........surprisingly civic has lower power to weight ratio of 0.1111

Vezel suspenion is super hard compared to civic, drive one first. On good roads vezels drive is great but converting to hybrid and petrol it makes a sound which at times is annoying

I sold my Vezel, but I am temporarily driving reborn these days. I am enjoying Reborn a lot more than Vezel. I actually started to hate Vezel by the time I sold it. This has never happened with me before and I have bought A LOT of different cars and SUVs.

Key cons of Vezel:
1. Hybrid conversion from engine to electric and vice versa is not smooth. Its electric motor does not have enough power, so it keeps converting to engine at low speeds as soon as you give a little push to accelerator pedal. This results in very uncomfortable driving experience.
2. There is no spare wheel. Just some puncture fixing liquid and air pump.
3. Boot is small, you can only place 1 large bag without folding seats. Civic easily holds 2 large bags.
4. No aftermarket service. Unavailability of parts.
5. Stiff suspension.
6. Poor resale.

I have the same issues with vezel. The conversion from Ev to engine again and again has become unbearable for me! Thinking to sell vezep and get civic x 1.8

I think people put bags a lot more than human bodies in their trunk.

I regularly go to airport to pick and drop-off relatives, its impossible to fit 2 large bags (checked luggage) without folding rear seats. Never had that problem in Civic or Corolla.

Vezel has way more power then a standard 1.8L civic. Its lighter I guess plus 152 hp vs 130 something! Its very very powerful & economical at the same time

The suspension is back breaking. Thats enough of a reason to stay away from it.

Its not the suspension of Vezel, rather its low profile tire which are not designed for broken roads. I am using Vezel RS with 18 inches rim suspension is superb for proper roads. If you wanna go broken pavement then just switch to 15 inch rim with 225/70 R 15 tyres. You would find an amazing suspension on any dirt road or multiple broken pavement.
So its wheels not suspension.

I didn't buy spare wheel, so don't know much about sizing. But I would recommend you to buy a slim space saver wheel, it will be cheap and save you that precious luggage space.

Two points.Baggage space and power Vezel compared to Civic.
Through personal experiance Vezel has a more baggage space and its easy to load being a hatchback.Just dropped family at airport with 3 medium sized suitcases and 3 trolley bags and 5 adults.Everybody was talking about the space and the comfort of both front and rear seats.
Talking about power yes it is 1.5 but hp/torque is more than Civic.Additionally put it in Sports mode and you can feel real power.Lastly it is not wise to compare these two cars one being a sedan 1.8 and other a cross-over 1.5 Hybrid.Its what you want to drive and how to drive. Both cars have their Pros and Cons and should be compared accordingly.Hope this makes sense.

I've owned many gens of civic and now have a Vezel, mine is pretty low driven so engine motor transition is almost transparent, yes the ride is harder then you're used to but it comes at the advantage of much better handling. Comparing civic and Vezel 'pick wise' I think is a stupid idea. Vezel has around 18 20ish hp more then the civic and weighs less, also the cvt in the civic honestly breaks the car, the dual clutch, the torque of the motor in the Vezel makes it so much more powerful and fun. Civic x does 0 to 100 in around 10 secs if quick, Vezel does it in 7.5 8ish secs
