Islamabad Highway.....a dangerous road

Guyz due to present situation of islamabad highway or expressaway , i thought to start a topic..
this road is becomin a road of death, every day we saw no of accidents...
specially the portion from Koral Chowk to Rawat this road is has become horrible due to numerous accidents...mostly due the diversion area...
Why highway police and construction company of the road r so idiot ???? accidents r common in the diversion area and the traffic jam due to the irresponsibilty of highway petrol and also the people....
and the expressway from koral to faizabad is also dangerous bcoz ppl cross the road directly instead using the bridges made for them...and cause accidents...
SO who is responsible for this??? and wat is the solution?? Share ur views..

Islamabad highway, is not a highway in any sense.

I have to commute to Islamabad on daily basis from Bahria Town, and the only life line link is the Highway. I think it has become one of the most dangerous highways in the history of Pakistan.

Pedestrians crossing the road get hit every other day and loose their life. Call it bad luck, driver error but I believe 90 % are caused due to pedestrian stupidity!

I have been in number of close calls, even after the pedestrian bridges have been built. I do not understand why the concerned authorities are indifferent to this issue. Jay walking is a crime and it must be punished!

Salamz, iam not satisfied with it bro,ur rit people when ever where ever they want cross the road.khatara taxis goin at the right most lane,no rules at all.ive driven about 145kmh day time no one is there to ask u+faced 2 accidents

Furthermore I have hardly seen the stretch of highway from Karal Chowk to Rawat in good condition, I do not understand why... but its always under construction.

The authorities are always quick to reprimand and fine/punish the car owners in case of accident with a pedestrian but jay walking pedestrians are over looked. What justice is this? ... we have to pay a heavy price, mental, emotional and physical too in case of an accident.

Also car owners should unite in this thread and sign a petition to be delivered to the SSP Traffic Islamabad to better the situation or we will stage a sit in and block the highway!

Guys I think we should do something about it... especially the cars traveling in the right most lane at times are going way under the speed limit and if you honk or flash your lights for them to move, they never do... in fact they turn on the right indicator... Whats that even supposed to mean?????

its Islamabad Express Highway... though its not the best but i would say it has become alot better after having all those over head bridges for crossing roads and after removal of thsoe cats eyes and speed brakers in the middle.

my office is in chak shehzad farms and my house is in F-8 so i use this road twice on daily basis and i am pretty much satisfied

Interesting thread. But I will never ever want to blame the "ROAD" or the Authorities. The blame should go to insane pedestrians and drivers. The problem begun when it was converted to a 5 lane express way. Now the ITP has almost no chance to catch over speeding freaks! More over the jahil pedestrians and motor cyclists add to the misery. I have encountered bikers riding right in the middle of high speed lane. And if you give them horn, they will glare at you like you are at fault. Most of drivers are not aware of the fact that the speed limit is 70 Km/hr . I believe if all of us drive at this limit, there will be no accidents. Yes the stupid pedestrians should also be punished.

Most of you must be aware of the fact about Rawal road sharp turn. There used to be accidents on daily basis on that turn, speed limit on that turn was declared less than 45 Kmph. But the stupid dare devils who think their civics and rollas are "SPORTS CARS" and they can make that turn while going up to 100 Kmph. Then they blame authorities................ SIGH

We are all responsible to make such a brilliant road a disaster.

Padestrians there are real idiots. And those cyclists and bikers, crossing the road from a small self made opening............. bloody shits.

One such idiot suddenly got onto the road from the left when my cousin was going at 80Kph. All fault lied with that non-sense and yet you know what would have happened with my cousin. People gather and start abusing the driver.

And about the road, five lane road was approved till Rawat. But now its only upto the Karal Chowk due to "shortage of funds" (obviously when billions of Rupees go to foreign tours of those bloody "elected" rulers, what is left for development project???

Driving from Kral chowk to rawat is a mental torture now-a-days.

I agree to all above.
I am also using this road from some time.

I am still trying to figour out if i should get into 1st lane and drive at 80 KMPH and be ready for stome pedestrian to miss judge the on coming car's speed or get into 3rd or 2nd lane to face these idiot very slow taxi walas or people on motor cycle who are not allowed in these 3 lanes.

BTW i still miss the old road though it was narrow road but i use to get into isb much quicker than this 5 Lane non sense road.

Before these bridges were constructed the excuse was the humans living on both sides of road need to cross this road now the bridges are there and still people crossing the road? i mean humans usualy use brain and use the bridge.

It is dangerous as hell as i take it everyday 2 times, It is dangerous because of stupid idiot:
- Padestrians : who dont use bridge
- Cycle/motorcyles : use self made passage and come on road without looking and caring of any car coming.
- Public Toyota Hiace: Who think they have put the Indicator so now they can go anywhere they want no matter if the car is just comming behind, they dont gve a damn.
- Taxis : damn old condum taxis, with no mirrors, no inidcators and they dont give a damn when chaning the road
- Also because of some stupid idiot car driver who think they are on Formula 1 road, and they stick to your *** at the speed of 120 with those damn Full headlight aksing for way , no matter there is trafic jam. Mostly those XLI toyata drivers
- But The fault also go to Authorities who dont do a **** to punish these people, i never saw any one givng a fine to a Padestrians.

There should be done something it is too dangerous

ANd fron Airport chowk to Rawat the road itself is dangerous, so bad road with hell of khadas and public transport busses and Hiace driving like crazy and no light at all on road. No signla light or trafic police for people to take U turn to go to all those hell of housing shcemes, it is so dangerour to take U turn to to go to Bahria, pWD etc..

Whn will they think about it ? they should build a trafic signal or a bridge to corss the road to go to all these housing schemes .

BTW i read in News paper that gov will soon install fence on both sides of this road to stop crossing of people and all.

So lets see. i read this news like 2 months ago.

It happened with me too, once i was coming to RWP from airport and just before Zia mosque to ladies jumped right in front of me, I don't know how I was able to steer away from those them but so shocked I was that I kept trembling for couple of minutes (on the other hand that was longest ABS experience i had).

I firmly believe that GOD helped me that day otherwise it was over for those two ladies...
