Jacked Up prices of stuff sold on Motorway

On my last trip to Pakistan, Driving from Islamabad to Faisalabad ( Match 29,2012) I stopped at a service area on M3 South. The Tuck shop was run by TOTAL Bonjour. My wife went inside and bought some snacks. One of the biscuit pack was sold at price of 60/-. The price stamped on the pack was 35/- To make sure we are not ripped off on the name of motorway I went inside and pretended to buy the same pack. The guy sold it to me again for 60/- I asked him the pack says 35/- The person on the counter said on motorway it is sold for 60/- Then I insisted for the price list. the person on the counter pointed towards the wall. I could see the confusion on the faces of the people inside the store. After checking the price I came to know that the price printed was 50/- I didn't understand how come he charged me 60/- for no reason. Then he said that the list is old. I asked for the register where the price is entered and he refused to show me that. The whole staff was showing confusion on all this.

I insisted for manager to come but even after 20 minutes he didn't show up. They refused to show me the sale price of 60/- for the item. I asked him for the receipt for the snack I bought and he said the printer is not working. I insisted to write on a plain paper and sign it and he refused to do that as well. In the end he requested to stop recording on camera. He literally said sir "apnay 10 ruppay lay lain wapis" another guy a moments ago bought an ice cream cup for 70 which on price list was 55/- after I went out and asked him. It is understandable that prices can be higher then normal on motorway being no where close to towns and supply from far area can increase the price but the price deviation from the price list is not understandable. The guy on the counter requested not to file a report.
So next time you buy soemthing on M1/2/3 compare the price what is on the price list. Ask for recipet as always. I have no doubt some of you will be astonished may be.

and people have to vent out by swearing at the president

Dont ask for reciept only. check the price list as well. Reciept will not serve the purpose. Make sure they are not selling above price list. If they do so.. money goes to their pockets.

The biggest retail chor I met here during my latest visit was one of the 'PTCL Franchise' They charged me Rs250 to restore my EVO(which did not even happen) but when I rang PTCL customer services they resumed the service in under 12 hours and were astonished to see people charging for that which was in reality a free service...

MAte,this is the story of Pakistan. Every stone you turn there would be Cockroach underneath..

Why don't we get serious about these gross injustices being carried out by small to medium and large sized companies.
Get our act together, put on our thinking caps and systematically start taking them to the 'consumer courts.' For an educated person this route would make much sense instead of stooping to their level of exchanging snide remarks and hurling disgusting expletives.

^^ Napalm, Big organizations have long arms too. They can even buy judges through Baba. The OP resorted to good manners and resp language although they had not deserved that.I seen whole pack attacking customers who complaint. Gosh this is a shop in chichawatni where only baba rules with no justice.

Bravo FazalWahab for pointing out this , i have been bothered about this for long as i know the time in 90's when everyone knew the clear prices of groceries , snacks and soft drinks .

Nowadays its like two fuel station shops situated 1-3 km's apart are charging differently for differnet products and i am not talking about the highways and motorways rather in cities as well.

I have confronted many counter guys over this as why does a dew or a coke can cost between 25 and 35 and the only answer i get is that we are being charged more rent from the fuel pump owner i mean this is not an answer at all and in motorways these prices are insane.

Shouldnt we writing about this to some consumer rights body atleast we can point this out no matter what the outcome is.

I thought I should share here as most of you guys travel on Motorway and you should be aware and you must ASK for price. I will travel again may be in two years..
