japanese cars import is banned since 2 years

JDMs import is not banned, rather has been made almost practically near to impossible / difficult to import, as now, import policies have been imposed in true letter and spirit.

Previously, due to some loop holes, and relaxed policies, many people managed to easily import them (I myself imported Vitz personally, when policies were relaxed). Now its difficult, still, cars are being imported by some dealers and some "Chakkarr Baazi", but quantum has decreased.

I am thinking to buy a jdm car may be vitz 2011 or alto 2015 so will it be a good decision to buy a jdm car..?

Alto, being 660 cc, may be avoided.

Vitz 2011 can be considered, but a clean one would be hard to find, or it will be costly.

will the parts disappaers from market in near future or the prices will go to sky high..??

Parts will not disappear, rather never, however, prices of cars and parts might go high.

my personal car in usa has been driven in flood waters, driven on gravel roads for hundreds of miles each week.

Its a canadian made toyota camry with the factory defect 2azfe engine.

Buying a JDM?

Buying someone's garbage, and then buying some more garbage from a scrapyard, to keep that garbage running.

Pleading to a scrappy for a bargain, for his pathetic worn out parts, and wasting your time in a scrap market.

Wasting some more time and money, when the garbage part turns out to not be usable.

The thing is, every tom dick and harry thinks he knows how to maintain cars, when the engine dies, they go to the scrap yard for another garbage engine.

Then the "JDM" has a couple of check lights, because now the ecu and wiring don't match the engine.

The gist is, if you don't value your time and if you like to drive in a scrap piece of shit, buy a japanese car.

Japanese car is perfect, if you can not afford a new car but you want to pretend to be rich

My recent experience with watching @syncview repair a honda life suspension.

The shock absorbers were dead
The bushings were shot

The CV joints were fuct

None of these were readily available as genuine or even high quality aftermarket replacement.

The shocks had to be sourced from scrapyard.

The bushings, we carefully removed the old ones, then took the sample to montgomery road, and cross checked with each shop, until we found something that was very similar (Not made for the car though).. So we had to cut the bushing to correct length and install it.

This sort of bullshit never happens with a locally made car and I can imagine the hassle of the job, the attitude of the mechanic, if the car had been sent somewhere,

If you value your time and money, buy a car, you can get genuine parts for.

Just last week, i redid the entire suspension of cultus efi.

4 agriauto shock absorbers for 15k, strut bearings, brand new for 3k. The car rides like brand new. You are never getting that feeling with a car maintained on garbage parts!!

U should also mention that agriauto exports parts to JDM Vehicles as well. This is where these people get cramps....

sir @margallar we along with @babarhyd have discussed at length availability of OEM Made in Pakistan parts in open market with several manufacturers / vendors at last auto show. They are contract bound not to sell parts in open market. Instead each manufacturer have a model contract quantities of parts to be produced & delivered.

in short a JDM is scrap write off export, and the only source for every part is SCRAPYARD. no sane parts importer is handling NEW parts for scrapped JDM class for which even the parts catalog is only in Japanese. JDM 660 is a disposable vehicle so the spare parts are almost non-existent to export outside Japan.

this basically means that the life of the car in pakistan is 10 years, after which it starts to move towards being a "write off"

I paid nothing for it - fixed it up for loose change and drove it 180,000 kms - its parked under a tree when not being used and is only washed when it rains. (paint oxidised and peeling off now - its 18 years old)

whats wrong with comparing one piece of trash to another?

and my point was - its a local car in USA, the people who buy the japanese variants of camry/corolla get stung really really bad when it comes to buying spare parts like brakes, axles or evap system parts or other small bits - prices for those are 4x that of usual american/canadian made cars.

All those people who buy japanese variants are usually of Pakistani or Indian origin.

Looks like you have never driven one. These so called scraps are 10000 times better then the local garbage big 3 are selling us. Only parts availability isn't the reason to buy local scrap. As I said before with right contacts you can find brand-new parts or even good condition used parts. Secondly about the engine a properly maintain one lasts around 200k mark and above easily have seen with my eyes.

If you really are looking for smooth drive, buy an original citroen DS - there were about 200 driven from UK to Pakistan in the 70s - they drive smoother than a a waft of air blowing on a cloud on a sunny spring day (hydromat suspension)

They will fit you perfectly as you obviously have "CONTACTS" - the risk/reward ratio is also there with a Citroen DS (its a class of its own)

with a JDM cartoon pikachu box, after all the secret handshake, CIA password meetings, drug dealer type meetings for spare parts - its still a piece of trash.

any machine whether a refrigerator or a car is useless is spare parts are not available locally and readily.

btw - 200,000 kms is not a benchmark either, even the old suzuki F8A engine is good for 300,000 kms with routine maintenance.

Then what else you need in modern cars u don't need any major thing till 200k. And after that just sell the car. Atleast it will take 10 years to achieve 200k for the distance I drive.

I would try to be honest, neutral and unbiased in my opinion.

Its a well-known fact that any good graded (like 4-4.5 / above), non-accidented used JDM would always be better than used PKDM any given day, when it comes to build quality and features, etc. (koi na manay, I won't debate / insist), however, all JDMs come at a cost, which other members have rightly pointed out (and its a fact):

1. Difficult availability of parts
2. No local support and warranty
3. In-competencies of local mechanics / electricians to understand them, resulting in colossal damages

If one thinks that he / she can manage a JDM and its related issues, then he / she may opt for it, otherwise, if one would like to go trouble free, its best to opt from local cars.

I have owned 02 JDMs, luckily, never faced any spare parts issues.

I twice visited Chah-E-Sultan, Rawalpindi, and as per my observations, I do not think that JDMs spare parts like Bonnet, Lights, Doors, Bumpers, windscreens, etc. are available from the markets / scrapyards / junkyards, etc. in brand new condition!

All which would be available would be used, Kabuli, stolen from other cars, scrapped, etc. and in very high prices, like muu mangay daam.

To conclude in a nutshell, will be in used condition only! (Very rare in brand new)

Its a fact, which we all should admit.

Yes, some parts, like filters, gaskets, bearings, etc. which come in routine maintenance, may be available in brand new condition, but again, for off-market cars, they may be hard to find.

Cars are a collection of parts.

In normal life you need to replace rubber parts
Brake parts
Wheel hub and bearing parts
Ball joints
Linkage arms
Body finishers

As soon as 3 years in some cases. And as you said, you need "contacts" for those parts. LOL.

The good running engine is useless if the car around it has become a pile of scrap, and not everyone is going to have time to deal with shady sellers "secret contacts"

I didnt even mention the speciallity parts like control modules or wiring harnesses or even assorted sensors and small motors.
