I saw electric scooters and bicycles everywhere in China long ago and they just needed a domestic three pin plug to charge. Usually charged overnight and ready in the morning. I guess this motorcycle is similar. Suitable for within city commutes.

I have been using an electric bike for quite some time.

Judging from the number of people stopping to ask about it every trip, I'd say that the interest for electric bikes in the Pakistani market is definitely there.

Almost none of them have even heard of the brand Jolta - aside from their decently SEO'd website, their advertising is almost non existent.

Got it from Metro in Islamabad - it's not Jolta. It was just standing on display - I tested it a bit and bought it. No delivery or waiting period. No registration or tax is required, although Excise and Tax department can register it and give a number plate if you want.

I have personally used it a bunch of times for >70 km round trips, accelerating slowly and not exceeding 40 km/h.

Its a bit slow on steep inclines, but manageable. It's not meant to break speed records.

It would suffice for school pick and drop IMO, but remember that the range is nearly halved with passengers. If the distance to the school is less than 15-20 km one way, then its perfect.

I wouldn't recommend getting a model with dry battery though - charging time is way too much. The ones with lithium ion battery are expensive, but charging time is maneagable. Also get a model with a 2000w or greater motor.

When I was using a friend's CG125, I was burning 700 rs of fuel every 4 days or so. It was in excellent tune and returned around 40 km per liter at a speed of 70-80 km/h.

Not to mention that an e bike doesnt need regular oil changes and tuning.

Electric bikes would fail in pakistan due to differential electricity pricing. Electric bikes claim that it consumes around 3 units per charge. So that makes around 90 units of electricity. Even if we accept this company claim. So if suppose we say a normal household (without AC) consumes 250 units monthly , lesco bill calculation shows a monthly bill of around 3200. Add in to it the units consumed by the bike, cost of 350 units is more than 7000 rupees. Add to it yearly cost of batteries and initial price of the bike. It is a not to go product at least with this pricing system of electricity.

Exactly. More than half of the 70cc price counts for engine. Replace that with a an electric motor and battery. It should be around the price of engine. I have seen advertisement for 3000W hub motor in 30k. Add batteries of Worth 5000 (claim by jolta), it should not be more than 60k.

These bikes can only survive if they have solar panels installed and their braking system recharge the batteries.

by the way, what will happen to bikes during rainy seasons.....when our roads are full of water & mud.

Nowadays, theft of motorcyle batteries is on the rise especially suzuki gd 110 & GS 150 here in Karachi.

Survival depends on the quality of the batteries. Sure regenerative braking can get a few more kilometers but at the cessation of the day, it just adds weight and cost to manufacture and engineer. The range claimed by the company is of perfect conditions i.e. Temperature, Sultriness, Tire pressure, etc. No EV can get the claimed range on average conditions. Because batteries and motors need an ideal temperature to operate. IDK if Jolta puts that much effort in engineering the bike.
As far as water is considered, an electric circuit can be waterproofed facilely. That is the reason that any Tesla (electric car) can drive in a flood easily (even float on water and operate). So if the company (Jolta) takes care of waterproofing it won't be an issue. Now I cant verbalize anything about Theft. The batteries are secured to the frame in an EV. IDK about the batteries of Jolta are they secured or not. We can't just steal an EV's battery, as it requires you to have the equipment and convey. Batteries are heavy.
Now I understand the above points will only be applicable if and only Jolta genuinely cares about quality. (which I don't anticipate).

I am talking about the more incipient model Ss, not the old ones. Also "flooded" is different than driving a car. the cars you are talking about were turned off and left in water. Above I was mentioning when a tesla drives through a flood. Driving through with the water resistance of a Tesla is still better than ICE. Sure a tesla can get damaged if left for a long period of time in the water. But the car can drive through water as shown in the clip. Elon Musk himself said Teslas can float like a boat but it is still precarious. For the scrap bit, that's what Tesla (company) is. They just make salvaged cars useless (no access to supercharging) so it turns out to be scrap.

Anyways the topic was not about tesla being water-resistant. It was about Jolta Bikes being water-resistant. The purpose to give an example of Tesla was to tell water resistance can be done on EVs.
