This bridge is the turning point for Khaplu valley.
If we go straight then it leads to Kharmang valley which ends up at LOC. Another important aspect of this valley is that this is the starting point of Indus valley and civilization in Pakistan territory. At LOC, Indus river enters Kharmang valley and Pakistan.
The turn to left on this bridge leads to Khaplu valley which is home to Shyok river. This valley leads to Hushe valley near Khaplu which is alternate but tougher route to Concordia through Gondogoro La pass. Also, it takes you to Masherbrum peak as well.
At Khaplu, this valley is divided into three separate valleys:
- Hushe valley leads to Masherbrum and Gondogoro La pass and onwards to Concordia
- Another valley leads to Siachen Glacier and that is the maximum point where road can go to support Pak army in Siachen.
- Third is Shyok river valley which ends up at LOC where the river enters into Pakistan
