I came back from Naran on Sunday. I think it was the night between Thursday and Friday, there was heavy rain and first snowfall in the surroundings of Naran. For one whole day, the road was closed. But next day, the road cleared, we saw the sunshine on Friday morning after 2 days. People started coming, as it was weekend.
We traveled from Naran to Shogran on Saturday, 6th Sep, path was cleared.
Then from Shogran to Islamabad on Sunday, 7th Sep, path was cleared. We saw few areas which were affected by landsliding. One car at a time could go. FWO cleared and we saw traffic coming and going towards Naran.
I have the following advice for you.
1. Check the weather forecast. If it shows constant rain for continuous 2-3 days, don't go, its risky. You might have to stuck for few hours, until they clear. Or stay in Balakot until it gets cleared.
2. Keep the phone numbers of popular hotels with you. Keep in touch with them if there is bad weather.
We could not go anywhere for a whole day due to continuous rain, stuck in hotel.
We could not go to Lululsar on own car, because path was muddy. Stones and mud was on road. Small car could not go. We came back after seeing the mud on such patch, one family tried to cross it on Cultus and stuck midway. Then the passengers came out of car, and only the person who was driving, was able to take it out of mud after some effort. He requested us too, to not go on own car.
When we were checking Accuweather, it was showing partly cloudy or thunderstorms in this week, which is I think ideal for Naran. Just, the continuous rain for 2-3 days is bad.
