Right side is done, pretty much, footboard at the rear end needs work as it's not straight. They were working on left front door when i visited, rear left door and fender still pending.

Car Paint, What to Do?

I've visited two shops as of now. One of them recommended Alps @PKR 4600/l not sure about this brand. Another shop 3Star Paint G10 had Sikken @PKR 7000/l and lacquer from Sikken for the same price, he recommended to use 2 litres of lacquer and not let the painter do it in one cos some might claim they can. As per 3Star paint shop if you buy everything of good quality like thinner, poutine, lacquer etc. the material will end up costing around PKR 30k. A good quality lacquer is around 6-7k as well.

The outer panels will be painted with a good quality brand and the interior with Deco. Paint is going to cost me PKR 75k, material included, this will be booth painted.

Just make sure the sides are straight and there are no waves (dhalken) on doors

Sikken is a good brand and so does nippon and IsI.
This berger auto shield will not protect from the rust underneath it.
So first do clean the metal properly before applying it.

Could only find Sikken and Alps here in Isb. Don't know how to verify if sikken is original will have to take the shop's word for it.

That's the thing I didn't manage to check the floors and underside before the application of the shield. However the denter and painter are saying that they used sand paper and steel brush to clear the rust before application so fingers crossed now

No idea how to check that.
I still don't trust rust. I always spray Rustoleum rust reformer before applying paint.
Do check yourself, don't trust them specially in rust protection.

The painter said he will apply a second coat of this shield before paint. Would you suggest adding a 3rd coat of rust reformer before paint?

Rust reformer should be apply on bare or slightly rusted metal. It will not work on painted surface.
Yes, this is the one i use.

How about applying it on top of the Berger auto shield and then painting over it?

Wouldn't make bond with the painted surface properly. Done few experiments with it.
You can spray on other areas which has not been painted yet.

Head Light Restoration

I had restored the headlights last time. I used an aluminum foil and used samad bond to paste it, this was done back in 2014 I think. If you see in the pic below, the foil is holding up pretty well, the top side is still very clean considering, the bottom part is dirty. It's because I was unable to get a good seal with the silicon. The space for indicator and reverse light was very congested so was unable to get in the aluminum paper.

So this time around I got a chrome spray paint. I washed the lights and have painted multiple coats, it's not a very good finish though. It will look good in pics but I should have used sand paper on the surface to make it smooth. If you see in the pic where i cleaned the inside and before spray paint you can see some bubbles if you zoom in and also there is left over samad bond residue. Well I thought of using sand paper after I had painted the lights, so will go with it this time around, agli dafa sand paper use kerein gy
This is the final look, I think it looks good, thori si mehnat and saved some money rather than getting new ones. These are not yet sealed. That will be a little tricky, will try and use lots of silicon so that the seal is good and will probably use rubber bands to hold the covers in place till the silicon takes hold.

get a couple of spare parking lamp or turn signal twist lock holders and 3 or 5 bulbs. Then drill out the corner blanking pieces you see and use a small file to make the locking tab slots - all the moulding marks to cut are on the plastic housing itself, you will see what Im talking about.

wire up the bulb holders to the parking light circuit of the tail lights - it will make the whole tail lamp light up evenly and also would be seen from the side of the car.

The early Khybers had the bulb holder actually taped to the wiring and just tucked away - the later ones were completely missing that - easy job to install.

Thank you for the suggestion. If I add a second light source will i get an even spread? or will it be two bright light sources? With a single source there is a symmetry that looks nice, but two definite bright sources might not look aesthetically pleasing. Will this transparent light spreader even it out? or maybe I should use a low powered secondary bulb to ensure even spread and symmetry?
