Denso plugs were not available so i bought NGK...will change it to Denso

So after engine overhaul, mechanic set the Fan on auto, but he didnot put thermostat valve, i asked him but he was not in favor, second he put 20w-50 oil in car and asked me to never pour any other grade than 20w-50 in these old cars...i asked him that can i pour 10w-40 synthetic of shell, but he said NO, only 20w-50 mineral..
So my question is for all of you who kept suzuki khyber

1– Do i need to put thermostat valve in the first place? And if yes, then do i have to remove it in Summers??? Or It won’t heat up the car in summer??

2– which grade of oil shall i use after engine rebuild??? 20w-50 mineral, as the mechanic said or 10w-40 synthetic??

THERMOSTAT is a must whether its a summer or winter or autumn or spring. It basically block flow of coolant/water to your engine untill it has attained specific temperature. If not placed, engine will be kept cool all time by coolant/water. So, imo it should be a must thing. Do it asap.
Most mechanics (localy & internationaly) use mineral oil during break-in peiod aka running period of engine. So, i think there is no issue with mineral oil. After break-in you can switch to synthetic.

ok i will install thermostat valve soon after break in period...
and regarding engine oil my mechanic told me to use mineral oil 20w-50 through out in car,,,even after break in because according to him (itni purani car mai koi b thin oil use nahe krna siwaye 20w-50 k)...now what should i do.....,

You should install thermostat during break-in period not after....
Secondly, rebuild engine (if done perfectly) is like a new engine, not a used old one. So, there should be no harm in using synthetic.
You have used new pistons, new oil pump, new rings everything has been rebuilt. How come it is an old used engine?

Yes your words make sense..changed pistons, rings, oil pump many thins....that was the mechanic saying...but yes i am installing thermostat valve and will use 10w-40 synthetic in sha Allah

after break-in period change oil filter and switch to 5w-30. make a 6000+ kms oil change habit

5w-30 of shell? which one will you prefer? and 5w-30 semi synthetic? i am asking because i don't have much knowledge of viscosity....
plus my mechanic told me (3000 sy zyada na chalana q k jab ap on clock 3k py change krty ho tou actually wo 5k hoti hai q k gari start b kari hoti hai stops py signal py etc etc)..lol it doesnot make any sense to me,,,kindly shed a light on this..
and number 2..he strongly asked me not to use other than mineral oil i.e 20w-50...i am confused...wat will u say ?

after break-in period is over. buy any local brand of 5W-30 Shell PSO Total Aisin from brand station or trusted shop.

am sure you are better educated and able to read write over this forum to seek guidance. Your mechanic does not have that advantage.

make sure you are using thermostat valve in system, cooling fans connected to run automatic

a new engine will provide you minimum of 100,000 km trouble free service if you keep track of lubricant. When you rebuild the engine did you changed the transmission fluid as well , change it now if its not done earlier.

hahaha yes you are right..,fan is automatic...will install thermostat valve soon in sha Allah....and i didnot change transmission fluid...but yes will change it ASAP..

Your mechanic is right on not installing thermostat valve as one can see your head cylinder is rusted and repaired by depoxy solution which won't hold for much, there is a reason he used 2mm gaskit. And regarding 20w50 oil that too as per the workmanship is right oil. Work done is basic jugaar not upto par as per standards. I would suggest you follow what your mechanic is saying as any fault after using thermostat valve or thin oil will affect any warranty that mechanic might have given you.
