Khyber - Performance after Complete Engine Overhaul

Very nice long trip average.
While going from Islamabad to Lahore on M2 when you cross Chakri then there are long ascending slopes before Kallar Kahar. The speed limit is 120 kmph for LTV. My Khyber drops the speed on those slopes. The speed drops to such an extent that I have to put third gear. It has the same response before and after overhaul. However, the car is very strong while climbing the hills of Murree and Pir Sohawa in lower gears. A few months ago we were seven people in this car, six adults and one child and we went to Monal Pir Sohawa for dinner. The car climbed like a champ. Don't know why it drops so much speed on motorway. My Corolla Gli maintains 120 Kmph limit. What was your car's speed on those slopes.

Fuel average in normal everyday driving is not so good because of those big ugly cat eyes installed on all road's. I can't even try to keep the speed steady due to those which results in slightly bad fuel average.
I kept a steady speed of 80km/h in 4th gear on those slopes and car climbed all those slopes happily at same speed it could have gone a bit faster. Before overhaul the compression readings were really low. I guess that played an important role in such behavior i remember on those slopes even Mehran used to cross me easily while my car used to struggle even in 3rd gear but now it's not the case.
I guess so that's the major difference between EFI and Carburetor fuel delivery. Even GLI is considered underpowered but if that can climb at same speed then that would be due to EFI and higher compression engine...
I will get the compression test redone at comming oil change then i will share the results here. Before overhaul the compression readings came out to be around 135 psi dry for all three cylinders which was way below the minimum range for G10 i.e. 155 psi dry test max/normal is 197 psi for dry test if i remember correctly.

Today i purchased the kabuli assembly for 42k(negociated from 47k) including my own assembly which was taken for 5k my mechanic was with me and he checked by removing tappet cover it was golden and 100 guranteed its japani and sealed even if opened after 10 years from now warranty of 1 month is given of any oil consumption ,smoke,pick issues ,water etc etc
I was infavour of overhaul but due to my father i had to go for assembly as according to him overhaul third time would not be appropriate ,although overhaul is cheaper
Hopefully will be started on sunday
Now i want to ask that i was thinking of pouring profi car engine and gear oil 10w 40 its german is it good for carby cultus?
Any other advice for new assembly?

Nice. Good to know that you are satisfied with the condition of engine.
Is it with carburetor or without it?
I didn't understand the 10 year thing.
My mechanic was telling me that one should change the belts and water pump of these engines before putting them in as these items suffer wear and tear and can go bad any time, so change them to be on the safe side.

Try to keep this TBI instead of Carburetor if you have got this engine with wiring and ECM for this setup. It would return better fuel average and performance with TBI.
As @speedster_101 said change the belts and water pump also change the oil seals on engine as they detoriyate with time and also as they are cheap and would be easy to change as engine is still out of car.
Change the first oil early in this new engine.
You can use any brand oil you want as long as it meets the requirements of the specific part...

Use shell helix 10W40 yellow box. Change it first on 500kms then after it change on regular 3000-4000km. Ensure thermostat is installed fan is auto and fresh coolant is poured in engine, zic comes prediluted and is cheap too you can get 4L for 1400. Change all belts also.

Was using HX5 for the last 15 year in my ride now thinking for other brands...thermostat is installed already and fan is also auto i will use water for 1 week testing after then will change to coolant was thinking of guard its cheap and reliable...timing belt was changed few month ago will use it as it is new

Last time the engine of my SA-310 was overhauled in 2008. Now it is overhauled again in 2016, after almost 8 years. The car was reducing engine oil, though 20W50 was being used. As the seals were also leaking, it was not clear that engine oil was getting reduced by oil leakage or due to oil consumption. The smoke was occasional. BTW i asked above have you got this engine with TBI (throttle body injection) OR you will be reusing the old CARB setup?

Guard Coolant work's fine for it's price. Just make sure to change that coolant every year.
You have to dilute it with distilled water in 50:50 mixture it comes as a concentrate.

Sorry totally forgot that bhai japani engine is carborator kay satg hota hai jo japan ma chlti the mene sirf assembly le hai full engine was he quoting 70 including wiring
My carborator was fine and everyother thing except gear it was giving a minor goong near 60 but as speedster bahi adviced im gonna use this one
I didnt know about that so i didnt buy the wiring carborator you mentioned will use mine my car was giving me 14 15 without ac in city which started worsen when car started snoke and oil consumption

Denter did a good job.
If you want to go in details then the bumper needs little bit adjustment from right side.
This grill looks a bit odd to me i liked the pre 2012 grill more though but it's more of personal preference..

Denter labour was 25k you can check the before pics in my post electrician removed the dashboard and electric stuff is asking me 3k for it though he didnt tell me before work and 2k for windshield and corner screen fitting with silicon he said it was accidented from roof so its difficult work to make it to original and 1k for cleaning 17k for paint and conpounding for matching colour etc

I think the price's are fine.
Sometime back i got the dashboard opened on my Cultus for heater core replacement and i was given a labor price quote of 2500-5500/-RS for the same work. I got that done from my mechanic from whom i get most of the work done he did that for 1500/-RS.
