Power Antenna

Saqib Bhai, Glad to read that you have successfully done the operation of Power Antenna. Can you please illustrate the same through pictures / images how u done this, so that we all can learn and repair the same, as Aref’s car has the same problem. Or please tell us any workshop (other than Hyundai) that will repair the same at reasonable rates.

Hyundai guys told me that this is not repairable (without checking it or open it) and the new one is available at Rs. 10,000/- (Ten Thousand only)

Aref I’m going to share the latest experience:

Multi Function Switch

Saqib Bhai, first of all, Many Thanks for your advise Re: Battery. Actually due to problem in Multi Function Switch, Head / Parking lights are on and off frequently while driving or in a static position. Last week there is a rain with strong wind and multifunction switch start its nasty actions and switch on the lights and may be continuously ON these for many hours, So Next morning … there is no sign of battery …...... Upon charging it, I immediately rush to the Hyundai Workshop for its replacement, they told me that it is not repairable and the new one is Rs.6,500/-. The price seems too much for just the multifunction switch… and the workshop guy also advises me to repair the same from Saddar – Bahu Mohalla. After few days I went there, and repair the same in 30 minutes and the guy ask me only Rs.260/-, I appreciate his work and handed over him Rs.360/-

So we should share our experiences enabling us to get better and better advises and ultimately ease in decision.

I dont have any pictures of antenna repair DIY because i was alone and was running around. It was not easy i must tell you but a happy ending made it all worth it.

I can offer my services for another DIY on Aref's car as now i know the nitty gritties of the mechanism.

I also faced problem with multi function switch and got it repaired one but after 3 months another problem came up. In the beggining it use to turn on head lights automatically and after 3months, it stopped operating parking lights, i attemoted a DIY but the "patris" were slackened and was not repairable as such so i bought a new one

while getting switch repaired i also got beraings replaced for generator as there was a slight noise in them. Now there is a strange problem. Whenever rpm's go above 4000 generator stops working and lights come up for generator and brake. I am not able to make sense out of it and i dont want any elctricain to do hit and trial unless i know what exactly is needed to be done. COmpany people come up with usual answer "Khol ke pata chalay gaa"

Other than that, Alhamdulillah, car is doing good, mileage is now 105000+ and i celebrated its 5th birthday on August 23, 2008 by taking it out for a lesurely spin:)

Your car has the Automatic Antenna, right? The Classic has one as well, and mine is experiencing problems, which have been categorized as unrepairable.

Did your car antenna also have the problem where the motor would just run inside without ejecting the antenna out? Cause this is whats happening with mine. All I hear is the motor working inside but nothing really happening, so I just plugged out the antenna cable. The electricians say its unrepairable.

I would really appreciate if you could help me out with the DIY, if it is the same issue you had to face.

Calssic and spectra share same auto antenna.

Mine was stuck outside.

In your case, it seems that the wire insert in the antenna which moves it is disconnected for the gear which is motor driven. It can be repaired but t takes time that is why no one is willing to work on it.

Fuel pump in my car broke down yesterday. Turns out, motor burnt.

Got the motor replaced with an original bosch make. Car runs fine now but I am out 3K

A repute of having costly spare parts is associated with spectra. therefore you have to find a local solution to the problems
eg when my spectra’s antenna had to be replaced I found another car’s antenna from Peshawar second hand market @ rs 350/-(instead of original @rs 10000’-) and fixed it with a slight alteration.
Similarly feul pp was available for rs 550/-

There are many already with 4A-FE, 2C, 3C etc.

You just ahve to look around

BTW my spectra is ba=ehaving very good these days, getting around 140 within city. My office run is also short so i think its is pretty neat. May GOD keep it this way.

spectra was my dream car, wish i had money to buy the above car but Insha'Allah one day or another will buy one, but who knows spectra will be existent then? all in all a wonderful car brought in our market by a bunch of mor*ns.. i wish goodluck to all those enjoying their spectras here (Y)

well i doesnt own a spectra but always been a big fan of this car.. I also have very good memories with this car as this was the one which i booked for my wedding back in 2004 even at that time when i was looking for a car on rent, corolla/civic were available for Rs. 2000/ day, corolla indus was for 1800/ day and i got this beauty for just 1500/ day as it wasn't a choice of many even at 'rent-a-car', however i was lucky to have such a nice car for one of the most memorable moments of my life. my 1 dayy experience with this car was fabulous. it was enormously spacious, even more than we expected as we easily acoomodated 4 passengers in the rear seat without any hassle. the leg room was great and the head room was even better than that of honda civic. drive ride was exceptionally great, cabin was quite, ac was freezing and i even remember the ladies of our family said that it looks as if we are traveling in an aeroplane
before this experience i had only heard about spectra, one of my colleagues had a chance to drive it when it was launched and according to him, paying 8 lac rupees for this car is like your are getting this car for free

anyway just wanted to share the captures of the spectra used in my wedding.. it was islamabad registered and rose metallic in color. since its the vcd caps so the image size is very small.

it was looking great when decorated with flowers and even the video maker captured it quite nicely... but the sad part of the story is that this wonderful car is dead, standing on bricks in an empty plot these days as according to the rent-a-car people, parts are not available and hence cannot be maintained :s

I had a problem of cracked air filter box yesterday its minor because gas setting is not disturbed. I tuned it for economy some time ag and was getting better then average mileage but that lean mixture took its toll yesterday when i was on the mobile crossing abig speed breaker and lost track of the gear i was travveling with

currently i have applied duct tape on the crack and its doing good

Cerato updates:

10 months old, 20k kms on the clock, not driven much as its my mom's car. Took it to my univeristy in Abu dhabi twice, at 180km/h its as smooth and stable as my cruiser or pug 307cc at 120. Though i feel the brakes could have been better(rear drum brakes)

Over all, I'M LOVIN IT!(Y)

Its a great chassis and design for stability and speeds especially the model you have but focus is on economy. That lotus suspension also comes in handy
