so all workshops work like that?
the shops they showed with spy cams are mostly franchises where people who literally dont know how to turn a screwdriver bring their cars for repairs. Wait for discount coupons or literally drive around looking for cheapest job. No joke, these shops advertise 20 dollar oil change including labour and filter. - which can only mean one thing, they are buying junk oil and junk filters and have untrained staff doing oil changes.
I have had to replace thousands of oil sumps that were damaged by these guys as they use an impact driver to tighten the sump bolt - in some cases they install a rubber plug with a through bolt and send the customer on their way. And if you own something like a new hyundai or kia or toyota, GM etc with the plastic cup oil filter. they wont touch it and in some cases I have seen broken engines because they tried their biggest breaker bar on the cap.
They have destroyed thousands of subaru with CVT as they proceeded to drain the transmission and fill the engine. They have also destroyed many many other cars with their shenenigans. Latest call to me was for a BMW 535Xi they changed oil on and stripped the pan bolt with an impact driver - Yeah good luck - I charge 20 hours labour for that job.
The shops who are independently owned and operated and are not a franchise are the ones that serve you well. There is a shop here run by a husband and wife and 2 more relatives that only works on trusted customers (they are from Ukraine) - they are booked for the next 3 months - but they will do any job perfectly and the result will look like factory job.
if you went to top dealership of Karachi and met a moron there, then why didnt you talk to the service manager? You can literally have a lot of fun with that.
