Damn those are high prices....however, since we are comparing with Audi SUV, can someone mention what are the costs of Audi similar parts prices here?

correct if they reduce the price but they do not and still charge higher price for cut down features......

I am no economy expert but Govt must have a industries ministry and must have a body to make rules of price increase like setting terms and condition when price can increase and to what extent...is that happening these days?

to make this car lower cost, it should have sales figures like you see in countries like USA - because if KLM starts importing them CBU - they will be subjected to the duty tarrifs as usual and will face same issue of camry in Pakistan.

Globally camry is just 25% more price of corolla, but in Pakistan its 200% or even more than corolla. Reason is that corolla is local made, camry is imported CBU.

Also, the stake in the local assemblers is not much by car brands .. we dont have fully operational actual car makers. We are just assemblers and these principals I believe is not doing the major transfer of technology and keeping major parts on their side to make profits on parts as well because market is small and transfer of technology could reduce their margins. Again my opinion.

Government should enforce minimum % of local parts, if they want to control price . Currently I believe no % requirement and even if it's there, it's not met. I am not sure but someone once told me the Corolla is only 40% local the max.. it should be 70% and up something..

Haha... Very nice explanation for a layman. But the word 'layman' doesn't include woman. So the ladies will still not understand. They only know to drive and create traffic problems.

Anyways, it's a very useful routine maintenance list. And I feel that a car's build quality depends on how quickly these parts wear out. In Pakistan Japanese and local manufactured car owners are facing a lot of trouble maintaining even while staying within this list, due to poor road conditions, low quality labor, and extreme weather conditions. So maintaining Korean cars shall be an uphill task.

suspension parts wear out regularly - so do brakes,

I recently was contacted by a member on PW for help with a BMW E60 be bought used, he mentioned that the tension strut bushings wear out in Pakistan due to bad roads.

I had to remind him that the tension strut bushings wear out regularly globally as that bushing literally has to twist anytime the steering is turned. Its part of the BMW split arm suspension design which gives that glued to the road feel.

He also went on to say that the rear ball joints were worn, which I had to tell him its also a wear part and it wore out at proper mile/time too - his car was 120,000 kms but 12 years old.

Point is - maintenance is not "IF" but "WHEN" as its a machine. No man made machine exists that is perfectly reliable and requires no maintenance.

when a repair fails at 10% life, they immediately blame "china maal" - without realizing their own failure.

e.g. the video I made for tightening suspension bushings. 99% of shops in Pakistan dont even know what even normal resting position of bushing is.

Please don't loose heart. If you have already booked a Sportage, the best thing to do now is to drive it, enjoy it for a while, then dispose it off before you fall in the money pit.

Yes. Infact i talked to him earlier today as well. He wants to wait for one more day.

To me, it was misjudgment on part of driver and more of an undercarriage accident. Will share more later.

I have yes but the thing is that people usually criticize Suzuki for 3rd class quality but i have Suzuki Ciaz currently, never had any problem with it for the 30k i have driven it so far...so my point was that Sportage is a much better car...why is there a barrage of negativity around it?

1. How can you compare Sportage with Ciaz and then say that Sportage is a much better car?

2. In business everything revolves around the concept of 'value for money'. Now please ask yourself will this purchase give you value for money. You'll come to know why is there a barrage of negativity around it.

Mercedes benz sprinter is excellent value for money when used as commercial mule in any euro country but it Is useless value for money in Pakistan.

Sportage and then KLM is a laughable joke in Pakistan.

Bhai agar sab yehi sochengy to Pakistan mein koi car manufacturer nhi chal paega...kio k yaha sab ne monopoly ki hoi hai as no one is there to regulate them....6 dafa honda atlas n toyota indus price hike kar chuky hain koi pochny wala nhi, people still buying their cars at ridiculously high prices that isn't value for money either....

their sales are going great, Sportage Awd has 3 months waiting time, so they will not think of themselves as a laughable joke

This is all any manufacturer would want within a year of its entrance in a new market....

Bt the way, can any current owner of any Sportage version can enlighten us with their experience so far, the goods and the bads and their comparative expeience with Kia Sportage and their previous or other vehicles they owned or own.

Those who do not own one, their comments are less valuable than the people who own it and are using it.

3 month wait time is not something to be proud of specially at launch.

Real world sales do not work that way. They are not making customized cars, they are making cars on assembly line
