Mr Fazal Sahib, first don't try to tease that person who already suffered from this accident. Secondly your assumption of pothole or driver being reason totally amused me. I lived in Karachi and that pothole is a joke for 1000cc Vitz.

He should have wear the seat belt, totally agreed!

There seems to be some malfunction either at the alloy rim (since its shattered to pieces) or somewhere else...

(Some perspective): searching google for "rim pothole" will not show you a single image of shattered rim.

He wasn't offroading so people should stop commenting that plz.

Even he was doing 100km the suspension or rim wasn't able to take the hit; that's a FACT. Time will tell if that one of incident (QC) or many to come....

I think it will be Kia Cerato 1600CC which will compete with Civic and Corolla.

After looking at picture of road behind Sportage, there is definitely more to story than just braking on pothole. Back in 2006, I bought new 8th gen Civic and took it to Karakoram Highway all the way to China border. At that time the condition of KKH was extremely bad, like extremely extremely bad, many times I unintentially hit giant deep pot holes at 80+ km/h. The car came back in one piece, I had it till 2009 with 100,000 km, and it had no suspension problems.

Possible scenarios for Sportage incident:
1. Loose suspension part that came out after hitting pothole. Not likely.
2. Poor build quality. If that's the case then there should have been other such incidents by now.
3. Hitting a large rock on the road at high speed. This is a more likely scenario given the shattered rim and out of town rockfall-prone road.

Yes, this is what I also expect.. there is definitely an external impact because of any possible scenarios as described. Your point#3 is almost accurate..

I have some more evidence which does make much more sense BUT I am told to keep it discrete until final report is submitted to high-ups at KLM and even Koreans overseas . Unfortunately I cant share it. I can assure you, the issue was with the drivers judgment, speed on the the road at this particular location. By the way another vehicle was also involved all this, which fled the scene.

Obviously, we all are making opinion on basis of available information but site survey revealed some real facts.

With all utmost respect, I believe you didnt read point#1. Various scenarios have been highlighted, POTHOLE just being only one. Kindly concentrate on the other two underlined cases and one is actually the real cause.

Again, I dont represent any company. I have been writing on QC issues more than anyone and I have even done it in case of KIA but here this accident is more of external factors than the issue with the vehicle. As I said, I have examined all the videos of the area and even the crashed vehicle with detailed inspection performed, few hours ago and I can tell you, that even layman can easily make out of it the entire situation which caused the unfortunate incident.

Give me sometime , I will sketch everything for you if I get permission and if I dont get the actual pictures. Just keep in mind there was a Corolla GLI also involved directly or indirectly in all this. The occupants of the Sportage also mentioned this at the DHQ Balakot where they got the treatment that their Sportage tire burst and they were also hit by another vehicle . Anyways, will share all once I have green light.

I wrote my opinion few days ago, although more details just arrived TODAY and was shared with me directly by the person who is involved in this case.

Again as I said multiple times, I made my opinion and it's no way any judgment and totally respect everyone's opinion on this case. Obviously as I have some extra input /data , I am inclined towards a certain opinion and if you are made available with the same, you will also switch to a different opinion.

Lastly, I am not teasing the person at all. I have been in touch with him since day #2 of the accident and i wanted to know what's the issue and if we can dig and help him BUT unfortunately his most of statement dont favor him. Falsifying the facts to gain some benefit is also not right.

Woah. You guyz are excellent investigators and you have made proper forensic scenario.
You may be right or wrong but efforts you made to clarify situation is excellent.

Fazal sahab im not accusing you, all of your focus seems to be on external factors and driver. Lets turn the focus towards car instead just for investigation, you may find multiple factors.. Bad rim, relatively low profile tyre, last wheel alignment wasn't proper, tyre pressure... could be one of reasons

Once I hit a road side block at very high speed that was left by some worker, tyre got a bubble, Alhamdulilah I was safe. My car was small hatch but if you replace mass in following equation with sportage then...

Just simple physics may explain the force of impact p = mass * velocity.

Unfortunately you are not aware of all those " external factors " and the level and intensity of it so, I will halt further discussion on this subject. I will present more details sometime in near future.

That simple 8th grade Physics formula will explain it very very easily.

Sure, i wouldn't like discuss it further with you since I don't know how you can grade a physics formula, maybe in your 10th grade your car mass reached zero and your car velocity was infinite that invalidated this formula.

Thanks for reminding me of my 10th grade which was 26 years ago , I totally forgot about it. I hope many of occupants which are residing in buildings and motorists who are traveling on bridges are safe because of my direct or indirect involvement in the design of those structures which are basically based on all your Physics starting from the 8th grade.

If you probe further, everything in Pakistan apparently becomes “layman” level. All injeenuyring is based on layman level too

Get with the times man. Forget triangulation or load spread. Layman thinking rules. Just ask raaj/mistree ustaad.

These same people wont be able to answer why a toyota land cruiser which is heavier than the sportage wont be damaged by that same pothole. (Physics gone to fetch chai when land cruiser is on road?)

Yes, KIA sportage Alpha is a good car to buy in 4.4 million PKR.

I booked KIA Sportage Alpha today, I will be highlighting some of my main research points.
1) if you have an extra 5 lacs in your car budget go for the Sportage FWD.
2) Alpha-model is a recently announced model of the lineup and KIA has learned from their mistakes they made 1 year ago. Due to this reason, Alpha will be more refined.
3) The 2 main differences between Alpha and FWD are a panoramic sunroof and traction control (which will not be an issue for you if you are a good driver)
4) All variants are built with the same dimensions and same parts except head and tail lights.
5) If you have the intention of selling your car after a year than don't buy the KIA Sportage.
6) If you have the intention of keeping the KIA for at least 4-5 years you should buy it.
