KKH ? latest update/trip

Just got back from a trip till khunjeraab top.. Road is in excellent condition and work is on going on most patches,,, we went from Babusar pass and its mostly carpetted except few patches after going down from Babusar to Chillas side

only 1 regret why so late i came across this thread.
@wanderlust i have read many so called travel logs and pictures on pakwheel. and this one is the best.

usually we see here people uploading there pictures here and there. but you ... sir.... you stick to the point and showed us what we wanted to see.

and the log book you created is awesome. you have brilliant skill i must admit (masha Allah). again, when i see first, i thought its going to be boring. but you are my star in travel log and narration and being to the point.

SIR you beat so many by this log that you dont even know urself :).... happy travelling bro.. very happy to see such talent. also selfless talent other wise i was expecting 50 pictures of ur own from all. but wolaaaaa, you are amazing.

thumbs up and you are in my good books from now on. and will look forward for your "ANY" trip from now on.

Regarding the condition of KKH road: Its quite good from starting point ahead of Taxila to Thakot. As soon as you cross Thakot bridge, the bad road starts and continue till Besham. In Kohistan till Chilas, the road is ok, not very damaged. Ahead of Chilas, the construction work is going on and you might get some portions quite bad. From somewhere near Juglot onwards, its newly carpeted motorway like road till Attabad.

Regarding the security issues: The overall sectarian violence is quite under control since the launch of KKTF (Karakoram Task Force). However, there is KKH closure every few days at the border of Diamer & Kohistan since last month due to Diamer Bhasha Dam's land dispute between tribes of Diamer and Kohistan. To date this problem hasn't solved yet and KKH is closed as of now since last couple of days.

Phew.. Just finished this whole travelogue in one go.. And I must say that it was one of the best travelogue with detailed narrations I have ever read on PW. I have always enjoyed narrations more with a sprinkle of pictures. Just don't like the threads which contain tooo many pictures without any details, experiences and narrations. And I must say that the hour or so spent on this thread was well worth it.

@Wanderlust bro, your thread has motivated me all of a sudden to go on a solo trip. Its the best opportunity to experience the solitude and to experience inner happiness. InshaALLAH I'll definitely do a solo trip like yours sometime soon.

And last but not least, @lse1 bro, thanks a lot for bumping this thread otherwise I would have never found this beautiful thread

KKH has been opened today after 4 days. And there is a ceasefire agreement of 1 month between tribes of Diamer & Kohistan on land dispute.

Not possible until the Attabad Lake bypass tunnel is completed and opened. It is expected to be completed in late 2014 (which I doubt)

It excellent to drive on newly carpeted section of KKH. However, the Thakot-Chilas section is pretty rough and long. Go through this travelogue if you have time

The local boat round trip is very cheap.. like 600-700 Rs. However, the military raft is expensive (don't know its price)

There would be very less or no snow in April especially in Lower & Central Hunza. Also, late march and early April is cherry blossom season. Totally spectacular to watch.

Btw, KKH was blocked yesterday in many sections at Kohistan & Diamer because of land slides after rains.
