[KKH Trip] Rawalpindi to Khunjerab Pass (9 July 2016 to 16 July 2016)

A good place to visit but only for once. Perhaps i was the only one in my group who was not very tempted for it. You can,t go beyond the bareer. We requested for a snap ahead of bearer and we were allowed along with families for hardly 15 sec.

Weather there is cold, well can get extreme cold during rain. Also oxygen level is quite low. I didn't take my jacket with me and paid the price...

We reached back to hunza around sunset. Now instead of wasting one more day in Hunza, we decided to travel back to gilgit.

Hottest place of our trip: Gilgit. Temperature was close to rawalpindi.

We thought we would at least get hotel here easily but it didnt happen. After continuous search for 3 hours, we found a reasonable place to rest.

Day 5: Gilgit to Skardu traveling

Initally we made plan to go to astore from Gilgit because we heard a lot of negative news about gilgit to skardu road. Many said not to go because road condition is bad, it is dangerous and so on. Luckily one of our friend used this road a day ago so we followed him.

Road condition is ok, not too bad to be scared of. Yes its a narrow road, sharp turns, rough patches but still driveable. It should be good enough if you are an experienced driver and can drive carefully.

Gilgit to Skardu road is around 180kms. We thought we would make it in 5- 6 hours but it took us around 9 hours. Yes this is because of speed control.

Here comes the most interesting part of skardu road. The road we often see on Tv. A sharp turn made after cutting a huge piece of mountain.

We reached skardu around 10pm. We traveled on this road after sunset as well. No danger at all. This is what i loved about Gilgit, skardu and hunza. Its safe now. People are very good and food is very cheap as well.

Day 6: Deosai and Shigar valley.

We hired a Prado for 10,000 for deosai. He told us in that amount he will take us to a lake 2 hours further from deosai, provided there is no rain.
