Kodaikanal is a town located in the Nilgiris mountains in Tamil Nadu state of India. Also known as the Switzerland of Tamil Nadu it is a beautiful region with chill weather even in summer and freezing temperatures in winter. The name 'Kodaikanal' means 'Gift of the Forest' in local Tamil language. This is my second visit after a break of more than a decade so i visited areas not covered in my previous visit.

Posting pics here to share images from my recent vacation and highlight the beauty of South Asia to all of us as we cannot visit many of these places. Thanks to all those who post travel pics in this site to share the beautiful locales in Pakistan which is appreciated by many in India who visit this site even if they are not contributors.

It was rain and drizzly all the way up the mountains so i couldn't take pics but after an uneventful journey arrived at resort in kodaikanal

Driving to Kodaikanal lake the next day morning. Rain , mist and gloom were the norm that day. Perfect weather for lying in bed. Traffic was slow moving.

This is a huge lake in the center of town and there's a lot to see around it.

Kodaikanal Club parking lot. No photos allowed inside and dining areas but the food was good and the atmosphere from a bygone era.

The view from the rear of Kodaikanal Club taken while trying to walk off a heavy lunch. You can see the mist beginning to roll in and very soon engulfed the area. One can hardly see a few feet in front of you.

Change is the volume of traffic. Everyone owns a car nowadays it seems and backups and traffic jams are common now.
