This time we avoided the designated tourist spots and drove into the countryside. This involved a lot of mountain driving and sharp turns which is not good for those who get motion sickness. But, it is worth it till you get out and walk in the cool crisp air and enjoy the beauty of mother nature.

Once you descend into the kodaikanal valley the entire region is dotted wth lakes, rivers, rivulets and waterfalls and one can just walk about and soak in the scenery and relax. No vendors, hawkers here only forest rangers who patrol. One can park one's vehicle in designated spots and wander. Just like i like.

Kodaikanal valley. We spent the afternoon relaxing by a lake and soaking in the scenery.

Atleast one loving couple there oblivious to everyone else.

Unfortunately darkness descends on this lake and we have to leave our idyllic state of mind and get back on the road as the rain and mist will engulf this area soon.

Back on the road. As you can see five km apart from the lake and the way is clear. You never know when the mist and rain will creep up on you in kodaikanal.

Another view and another lake of the kodaikanal valley from the mountain road. This region is full of wildlife from tigers, leopards, panthers, wild bison, elephants, deer, wild boar , monkeys and God knows what else s lurking in these woods. There are designated trekking trails and mostly young people from all over the world move around in groups in the woods and forests.
