Hello fellow mates , i am planning to get LC Cygnus soon IA . Before that i wanted to get an input from you people in depth who have owned it . Basically i would be going in between 2003-2006 model so kindly share your valuable insights on it .many thanx

Cygnus SUV is owned by Lexus brand or rephrase it as : Lexus Variant of Land Cruiser is known as Cygnus

Lexus is Premium Luxury Brand of Toyota.

Land Cruiser 100 series is known as AMAZON

Shell & Chassis DNA is the same while body trims & suspension are different. am not sure what kind of comparison you are looking for. as none of the vehicle are sold by Toyota in Pakistan. Only Car smugglers managed to misuse the baggage / gift scheme to bring in suvs from as far as Austrailia & as close as from Sri Lanka.

technically both have interchangeable mechanical parts. but again - an oil filter for LC 100 is for Rs. 1450 which if you ask for Lexus Cyngus will be for Rs. 2000 same box same part no.

re-sale question always comes after choice is made for petrol / diesel engine variant of LC & Cygnus
and the vote goes for LC Diesel which grabs the best resale no matter which model it is... see am a fortune teller too ..

Japan import lx470s were called cygnus. Its a 4.7 litre petrol v8 engine.
Land cruiser trim was 4.2 litre diesel

Finding a good vehicle now a days is impossible.
Except to pay 50 lacs for a good one

These are 10-13 years old vehicles so expect all sorts of works and almost everyone out there is driven 200-300k kms.

Biggest problem with them is their AHC system.

If i were to buy a 4x4 these days my first preference would be a next clean prado 2012-13 model, hilux revo and third would be a fortuner.

if you get hands on a clean 100 series diesel, wld easilly do 8km/ltr or above

First of all, you need to know your budget.
You should have substancial income to keep an suv. Both are very reliable vehicles, except a few that are not taken care of properly.

Lexus Cygnus, comes with a 4.7 litre v8 engine. It consumes 10 litre engine oil and gives an average of 4 to 5 km, max 6 on motorway and it has a fuel tank of 93 litres. Driving it 1000 km a month in a city will cost approximately 20 k so as going to Lahore from Isb and coming back. On a 5 k fill up from the petrol station you will get 255km. Tires will cost you around 87 k, all 4.

Land cruiser 4.2 litre diesel from Japan are basically the vx limited and the ones imported from Uk are called Amazons. The 4200 cc engine consumes 7 litre engine oil, and 1999 to 2003 models fuel average is 7 to 9 km. 2004 to 2006, 8 km to max 11km on motorway, you can get 9.6 km in city aswell. Parts are easily available. Just use a good quality engine oil, i used to get fuel filtres from UK. I would suggest you not to use guard filters. A quality filter is a bit expensive but plays its role well.

Both of the suvs drives well, Allahamdulilah have kept both, but if you compare it, using the diesel varient is much a wiser option. I dont know whats your occupation, the diesel varient will not stress you at all.

Yes clean nowdays is around 55-60 depending on options and mileage . Prado is a good option as well if i couldnt find one clean Cygnus .

Thankyou for the detailed reply , yes Cygnus seems to be heavy on pocket but that would be driven as a 3rd car maximum 300-500km per month . That i can afford easily but if more then that ,then i cant . You know the quality of diesel we have here . Thatswhy i didnt think of diesel variant. What about Cygnus’s performance generally since its heavy vehicle ? And from where i can get its spares easily ? And what about its prices like lights bumpers and other mechanical parts ?

My pleasure. Which city are you based in? If you are residing in Islamabad, i can point a few fuel pumps which i had been filling from. You can get quality diesel from there.
Cygnus and land cruisers are not expensive at all to maintain compared to mercedeses. Brake pads costs round about 10 k. Front grill costs 7 k. Tail lights costs 17 k. Parts are cheaper than new civics and premios.
Suvs are a peace of mind, my wife had been driving an Audi a5 that i bought brand new for her in 2015 and i sold it this year and bought a 2014 TX Prado. She finds the prado better than the Audi. Its more practical, you wont have issues of changing goddas and chimthays and your steering box will not give u issues for 2 to 3 years.
Just drive it carefully, dont worry about the headlights and parts that much.

Once u get used to suvs, you will never love to enjoy driving a car again.

Thankyou buddy for the information . I am from Lahore .I already have W211 facelift . Its heavy on parts and maintenance . Its good to know that LC Cygnus is cheaper then Germans . From where i can get general parts from here ?

I am residing in Islamabad, i dont know much about lahore, yet i would advise you to buy an Isb Registered Suv. 10 k is i think the transfer costs and yearly token is 10 to 12 k where as of Lahore reg token is 25 k plus per year.

yes yes surely would be going for ISB number . plus can you tel me that 2005-06 Cygnus came with VVTi engine i.e 275 HP ? and how to identify as if its non vvti or vvti ? do you have any info on this ?
