buy a good piece of hide from your local market, it will be 500 times better than chinese useless leather from aliexpress.
remove the buttons etc from the wheel and take some stencils with some paper tape build up on the wheel, buy 2 needles, thread of your colour choice and wax (ask your local mochi/cobbler where to buy)
cut the piece according to the stencils that you took, sew a seam together, 2 passes - cut a section out of the steering wheel to tuck this seam in (for smooth leather finish) - now proceed to install and stitch it in baseball stitch - the cover should be made a bit smaller so it sits very tight on the wheel. - if your original rubber is loose on the wheel rim, cut it with a blade and glue with some rubber glue (samad bond) and tie it up to set then proceed the leather cover.
You will have a rolls royce quality job which will last years.
If you want to do the german style stitch - then lay two lines of stitch first (one on each running edge of the cover) and use a thread to pull them together - thats how you get the X pattern you see on mercdes/bmw etc. I like the traditional baseball stitch. (aka gumm silai)
the cut I mention can be at the very top in the center like porsche - (its used a center pointer) - or in the middle on the very bottom like every other car.
