Hi emenent buddy..,

which set do you have...?

Currently i have xperia z, but i have used optimus g pro, optimus g, sky a850, sky a830, lg f160 lte2 etc and i use to flash roms for a korean phone vendor as part time but currently i am on a vacation with korean phones

this all seems to be fine but under "software version" here it says "MOD BY LAMHOANG"

this i don't get , if it is the original official update , then this should be like some serial no. not like this.., one of my friend has the same set and his software version says : f160k20g

This is a custom rom by LAMHOANG, all custom roms has official base as you say f160kg2, he has used lte2 original rom and customized it , the using the titanium backup , update.zip or any other file was produced which is flashed via cuatom recovery usuall CWM.

This is 100% custom rom, is everything working ok, mostly custom roms are built be vietnamese so it has some veitnamese apps ,keyboards etc builtin to the rom.
If you have root , install root explorer and you can see all these values in build.prop file, you can change it if you want you name instaed of LAMHOANG

On a serious note, is extra 1GB RAM on the LTE2 worth the extra 6k price compared to the LTE (SU640 or LU6200)? I dont think there will be much difference in performance.

And there is considerably more 3rd party support for the LTE. Right?

yea every thing is working fine, it has the vatnami keyboard but if you set the language to eng it showes eng keyboard. when i factory reset it , it had no video player so i installed MX Player which is a gr8 player. other then every thing is working fine , no vatnami apps there but it has some custom apps like 2g/3g switcher , root explorer , bao led (which use back and menu capacitive buttons light for notification light since this set has no notification light)

but still i want to know , how can i get the original official rom on this...?

is the original rom better from this customize rom.?

One more thing, can one easily be mistaken by a chinese make for a Korean phone? How do I make sure its not chinese? I m guessing "made in Korea" under the battery might be written some where?

as far as i know there is no chinese copy of these phones.., and if you look at under the battery you will see all the description written in korean language.., so you can know that it is a original korean set.

don't know about 3rd party support or custom roms for both of these sets but there is not only the ram difference. although the processor is clocked at 1.5 on both but the processor version and model is different.

lte got the old "Scorpion" version and lte2 got the new and improved "Krait" version of Qualcomm Snapdragon chips.
2nd thing is that the gpu is different. lte got Adreno 220 and lte2 got Adreno 225 which has more cores , more clock speed and direct x support.
other then that , screen size is different , set is slimmer and has NFC , which i don't think that previous lte had..,

You should start with YouTube you'll get links from there . What i noticed is these phones are totally neglected by developers for reasons best known to them . Hardly any custom roms are developed for them . Luckily i found official rom and flashed it . If you're not happy with current rom you can search for 4 x rom . I read somewhere it works with optimus . Do keep in mind after flashing original rom your phone may limit sms creation , you'll have to manipulate the settings from root explorer for this problem ?

i think you should go for it .., the logical reasons for that are as follow...,

you will get better screen , 285 ppi on galaxy note VS 318 ppi on oprimus G
better processor
much better and latest GPU Mali-400MP VS Adreno 320
small size and easy to handle.
optimus g has NFC with galaxy note lacks..,

there is 1 down side in terms of battery , galaxy note battery is better and the optimus g will not give you a good battery time as much as galaxy note.

so now you can make the decision easily..,

thanks , i also think that LU6200 is a great set specially in its price. basically i fall in love with the design of lte2 (F160K) it has a square type design very much like the new Xperia Z and also it is very slim with a nice doted textured bazel and back which i liked the most..,

there was a thing which happened only for 2 times since i bought the phone. when i took out the phone from my pocket , it was switched off. i was shocked the how the hell that happen. i turn on the phone and it works fine after words.. till now it doesn't repeated that and hopefully never will. may be it is due to miss press of power button and touch. i have a soft bag type cover for my phone so may be it is possible. but if it is due to software then i will have to shift the rom.

Usualy rom doesn't contain bugs likes this but may be a possibility .

Basically iam computer engineer, and worked on linux for 10 years so i understand the concept behind all the tools and commands etc. secondly the so called official custom rom is only available for the korean phone which have international counter parts. To calrify

LG LU6200 has international counterpart of LG P930 and P935 Nitro HD.
LG F180 Optimus g has E975 international counterpart
LG F240 optimus g pro has E980 as international model. etc etc

It is easy for the developers to develop or flash official international rom and then change the baseband and you are good to go. Regarding other model including LTE2 F160, the international model are not available or the very limited in availability.

Regarding Sky phones, there is no international phone so no chance of international stock rom, only custom rom available but every rom has one issue or the other. I hope this clarifies

Well from a person who has worked on almost all korean phones, i think you can prioritize which brands have priority in buying

1. Samsung(allmost all korean models have international counterparts, easy to flash via odin, international roms available, external antenna).
2. Motorola (all model have international counnterparts, easy to flash, no issues and antenna in the phone)
3. HTC ( all models have korean counterparts, easy to flash , no antenna)
4. LG ( some korean models have international counterparts, difficult to flash, external antenna)
5. Sky ( no international counterpart model, easy to flash, external antenna)
6. Take ( no international counterpart, difficult to flash, external antenna)

I think it can help in making decision buying korean phones.
