List of Cars running perfect on CNG

Hello everyone,

Please help make a list of cars, both Automatic and Manual which run on CNG without any significant problems. Please contribute to this thread with your precious knowledge. First list Automatic cars and then Manual ones which you know. As for my contribution, I dont have much knowledge about it. Therefore your contributions would be a guide for people like me and others. Thanks and best regards.

So you mean that if the car is Honda City Vario and the tuning has been done properly it would run on CNG without any troubles?

I m running my civic 04 exi on cng, no problems at all, smooth driving feels like running on petrol and done 150+kph on cng..

I do not agree. My xli runs way better than my previous Khyber. Not a single tune up workshop visdit since March 2008.

Wrong, EFI cars that i have kept, all of them, run great on CNG, turning from Petrol to CNG without a jerk, half self start.

On the other hand Carburatored cars are pain in the a$$ when it comes to switching from petrol to CNG, and Cold starts are no less of a pain either.

You can go 50,000 kms - 60,000 kms on your Vario before you need to change its CVT, no matter you install whatever kind of advancers or lambda motors, Vario is a failure on CNG.
For extra-smooth gear-shifting you need to pay, run it on petrol and it is the most smoothest car to drive !

@autophile & c123pk... i respect your opinion but as i said "normally carburetor cars run hassle-free without any significant problems on cng as compared to efi ones.." i didnt said that efi car cannot run better on cng, depends a lot on the capabilities of cng technician as well. a good experience of both of you cannot represent the majority similarly as c123pk pointed out the switching & cold start problems in carby cars, i am using cng since 5 years in my carby cultus now and haven't faced these troubles at all!

well i would disagree
cuz it does not matter how you drive a car... the thing that matters is that the car is properly tuned and then the car is properly tuned to your style of driving
and when i say tuning i am not limiting to CNG kit tuning, i mean the over car.

We are running a Daewoo, its EFI and its tuned to consume more fuel and give out a good pick and speed...

I have also used corollas for a lot time, corroborator based, they worked well as well, the difference is changing from Petrol and back to CNG. In EFI its hassle free, in corroborator you have to keep in mind the fact of burning all the fuel in it before letting the CNG into the engine

I have driven VTi as well on CNG and its response time is also good.

So now the question of which cars are the best come down to one single factor the price category. So i would recommend telling about what category are you looking at in your mind and then going for the best in that category.

Honda's D15b with one of the oldest stafenelli CNG kit (maybe 1st or 2nd gen) Without Emulator and Advancer. Air intake installed..... no problems yet, running this setup for more than 2.5 years now!!!

@Usman Ansari, turning your car to CNG from Petrol, is it a jerk free single-touch operation ? is there any center position on your CNG switch ? EFI cars dont have any middle position where you have to first cut the petrol supply and burn the petrol that is left in the carburator

thats a superior function of switch you r talking about the topic is about trouble-free running on cng

Hmm I got Corolla 88 and this is my 2nd car on cng previous was charade 85 both never gave any problem on CNG.

Even in pindi winters i always start on cng and hardly get any cng tunnings.

EE90 Local Avg on 55kg is around 150KM+
